\nVariety is truly the spice of life for members of the Jack Clarkson Band.
\nCajun, Western Swing, Rock & Roll, Country, Blues and Bluegrass – the popular local band will do it all Wednesday, June 15, at the season-opener of the Concert in the Park series. The music begins at 7 p.m. at the St. Johns City Park Performance Shell; there is no admission charge.
\nJack Clarkson who plays lead guitar, fiddle and mandolin and his wife, Tess, a gifted classical pianist who plays guitar, keyboard and sings lead and harmony, will be joined by some very special guests.
\nRodney Lamar Page, former orchestra director at St. Johns Public Schools, brings his “string” finesse to the stage – maybe even playing some “dueling fiddles” with Jack. Paul Ojibway, who toured with Joe Cocker in his 1994 world tour, will add extra excitement playing sax, flute, harmonica and vocals. Rounding out the Clarkson line-up is bass player, Jim Hammond, who is no stranger to the limelight.

\nThe Jack Clarkson Band has performed at thousands of events since its formation in 1980, including shows at the Rock & Roll, Country, and Bluegrass Halls of Fame sites.
\nMajor underwriter for the special, opening concert in the 2011 season is Stoney Creek Essential Oils, located in Clinton County.
\nConcert in the Park is sponsored by the Clinton County Arts Council and the city of St. Johns, with support from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
\nConcerts are held each Wednesday evening, beginning at 7 p.m., in the beautiful outdoor concert venue at the St. Johns City Park. The St. Johns Lions and Lioness Club staff a concession stand each week that offers light refreshments. All concerts are held rain or shine.
