The 12th annual Summer Dance Party is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17, at 7:30 p.m., on the main stage of the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant. This year’s event will be a fundraiser for Carson City Hospital, Sparrow Clinton Hospital, Sparrow Ionia Hospital, and Sparrow Foundation-Children’s Miracle Network.
Headline performer Lance Lipinsky (pictured right) will channel his inner Jerry Lee Lewis for a foot-stomping, wild ride of a show. Lipinsky, a Texas native, grew up studying his dad’s collection of Elvis, Roy Orbison, and Jerry Lee Lewis records. Now, at age 26, he combines these styles in his own original music similar to early rock ’n’ roll, classic country and even a touch of 1960s pop.
He also starred as the dynamic, exciting Lewis in Las Vegas and has been performing for the past year as his hero at the Apollo Theatre in Chicago as part of the well-known, Tony Award-winning, Broadway musical “The Million Dollar Quartet.”
In addition to this raucous headline act, the event will also feature the following tribute performers: Frank Chiarelli as Frankie Valli, Dave LaFame as Elton John, Frank Rondell as Ray Charles, and Dave Battah as Rod Stewart.
Hosting the entire show will be Ed Sullivan impersonator Houston MacPherson, who also performs as Jack Benny, George Burns, and Dean Martin. Highlights of Elvis and The Beatles from the original “The Ed Sullivan Show” will also be featured during the evening. Chiarelli’s tribute to Frankie Valli will include many hits from the Tony Award-winning “Jersey Boys” – the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
“We’ve been doing this for 12 years now, and so everyone knows to expect a fantastic time,” said Carson City Hospital President and CEO Bruce L. Traverse, FACHE. “This year is going to be the best yet, a great Saturday night with a cast of incredibly talented performers. And, while it’s a fun time for everyone, it’s good to remember that each hospital’s share of the proceeds will be used to improve patient care. So it’s good fun for a good cause.”
This year’s general admission tickets are $25 each. Cash bars and two dance floors will be available during the entire event.
