Information regarding the website that must be accessed to pay on-line will be in the City\u2019s Summer Newsletter enclosed with your next billing, due to be sent out July 22, 2011.<br \/>\nYou can also access the site by following instructions from the City\u2019s website which is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityofsaintjohnsmi.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.cityofsaintjohnsmi.com<\/a>. There is a $4.95 charge for each transaction up to a $500.00 limit.<br \/>\n<strong>Commissioner Bates Resigns Position<\/strong>: At its June 27th meeting the St. Johns City Commission accepted the resignation tendered by Commissioner Mark Bates earlier in the month. Both the Commission and City Staff wish to thank Mr. Bates for his many years of public service, and wish him well in his future endeavors.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nNew Traffic Control Signs At Clinton And Railroad Streets<\/strong>: If you are driving in the downtown area near the Veteran\u2019s Memorial please be advised that the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Railroad Street will soon be a 4 Way Stop. This change was necessitated by site line issues and safety concerns. Please use caution once the update is completed.<br \/>\n<strong>Sidewalk Replacement Program For 2011<\/strong>: In its continuing effort to make St. Johns a more &#8220;walkable&#8221; community, the City Commission has again funded a sidewalk replacement program for fiscal year 2011-2012. This is part of a long-range sidewalk replacement project that has been ongoing for a number of years. If you are interested in upgrading sidewalk sections adjacent to your property the City has a &#8220;partnering&#8221; program available to help defray costs. For more information please contact Director of Public Services Jeff Stephens at 224-8944, ext. 281.<br \/>\n<strong>Parks And Rec Programs In Full Swing<\/strong>: The City of St. Johns Recreation Department has a full slate of summer programs for both youth and adults. Many programs are running at capacity. Upcoming available programs include the afternoon Sport and Activity Camp, which runs Monday through Thursdays during the period of July 11- 21. The sessions are from 1 to 5 p.m. each day. Due to high enrollment and demand, a\u3000second Dinosaur Adventure class has been added which runs August 1-4 from 1:15 &#8211; 3:15 p.m. each day.<br \/>\nAnd don\u2019t forget Open Swim at the High School Pool Monday through Friday from 1:45 pm\u3000to 4:45 pm. For additional information and registration forms visit the City Website at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityofsaintjohnsmi.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.cityofsaintjohnsmi.com<\/a>.<br \/>\n<strong>Water Tower Maintenance Program To Begin<\/strong>: The City\u2019s elevated water tower near the hospital will be undergoing some heavy maintenance and updates this summer. Both exterior and interior work will be part of the project. This program insures that our residents have good quality potable water for their use. The City entered into a ten year agreement with a national firm to maintain this valuable infrastructure asset. The annual maintenance cost is approximately $47,000, which is paid from city customer water billings.<br \/>\n<strong>July 4th Celebration<\/strong>: Bring your family to our beautiful City Park for July 4th festivities sponsored by the St. Johns Rotary Club. There will be music by &#8220;Life Support&#8221;, a variety band, at the Performance Shell beginning at 7:30 p.m. The always popular fireworks display will follow as soon as dark settles in. The Lions Club Concession trailer will be open throughout the evening for snacks and refreshments. Buy some raffle tickets from the Rotary Club to support the fireworks display and become eligible for raffle prizes to be given out during the celebration.<br \/>\n<strong>City Now On Facebook<\/strong>: Get news about City activities, updates, road construction, police department information and other community &#8220;stuff&#8221; on the City\u2019s Facebook page.
