\nTom Leonard today announced his candidacy for state representative in the 93rd district, which includes all of Clinton County and most of Gratiot County. Leonard, 30, of DeWitt Township, pledged to embody principled, conservative leadership in the State House.
\n“If elected, I pledge to honor the Constitution, respect your pocketbook, and defend our community’s values,” said Leonard. “I look forward to earning your vote.”

\nLeonard has achieved an accomplished legal career, with experience as a prosecutor tough on crime in Genesee County and currently as an Assistant Attorney General in Lansing. Leonard also currently serves as Chairman of the Dewitt Township Public Safety Commission. “As a former prosecutor, I know that Tom has the courage to stand up for the citizens of Michigan,” said Clinton County Sheriff Wayne Kangas.
\nLeonard is pro-life and committed to defending traditional marriage. “As our next State Representative, I know Tom will always defend our values,” said former State Senator Alan Cropsey.
\nLeonard served as Chairman of the Clinton County Republican Party from 2008 to 2010. As a result of his accomplished leadership, Leonard was awarded the honor of 2010 Republican of the Year.
\nLeonard and his wife, Jenell, reside in DeWitt Township, where they are active members of the community. The couple is involved in the Saffron Hills Homeowners Association. Leonard is also an active member of the DeWitt Lions Club and the St. John’s Kiwanis Club.
\nLeonard is the first candidate to declare a candidacy for the 93rd District, which is currently held by the term-limited Paul Opsommer (R-DeWitt).
