Groundbreaking took place in July with an expected completion in November.<\/em><!--more--><br \/>\nHabitat for Humanity of Clinton County is a Christian housing ministry with the goal of eliminating substandard housing in our community. Our purpose is to provide a &#8220;hand up&#8221; not a &#8220;hand out,&#8221; by building homes with volunteer labor and selling the home at cost to a family who could not otherwise afford to own a home. It is our plan to build at least one decent, affordable and safe home in 2012. The site will be determined in the next few months.<br \/>\nTo qualify, applicants must currently have a need for adequate housing. They must be a resident of Clinton County, and be willing to partner with Habitat by working on their house and other projects. Applicants must be considered low income, meet minimum and maximum income criteria and have a satisfactory credit history.<br \/>\nTo learn more about this great opportunity, informational meetings will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. State Street, St. Johns, on Thursday September 29 at 7 pm and Saturday October 1 at 10 am.<br \/>\nPre-applications will be accepted through October 10, 2011.
