Union and Confederate Civil War Reenactors from across the state will meet on September 17 and 18, 2011 in the 7th Annual Mid Michigan Civil War Muster at Isabella County’s Deerfield Nature Park, 2425 W. Remus Road. The park is located about 6 miles west of Mt. Pleasant on M-20.
\nVisitors to Deerfield Nature Park will witness a recreation of our nation’s past during one of its most important and troublesome times. A nominal $6 per vehicle entry fee will allow spectators to be transported back to the time period of 1861 and the beginning of the Civil War. Union and Confederate infantry and artillery camps will be filled with activities. Authentically dressed civilians of the 1860 era will also be participating in the scenes.
\nThe highlight of this year’s Mid Michigan Civil War Muster will be battle reenactments at 1:30 pm on each day. The battle scenes for 2011 will focus on the early days of the Civil War in the West from Boonville to Carthage to Wilson’s Creek. This was the fight for Missouri in 1861.
\nIn addition to the battle reenactments, a full schedule of events will include living history camps, a Civil War era fashion show, and a 1860s era church service in addition to various drills and demonstrations. On Saturday evening visitors may also participate in the candlelight tours of the various camps and truly step back in time, as the camp life will unfold before them in the darkness and glow of the candlelight. An expected highlight of the candlelight tour is a five cannon night artillery fire demonstration!
\nThe Tenth Michigan Infantry is a family oriented group of Civil War Reenactors and living historians and a Michigan non-profit corporation. Founded on February 13, 1976 for the United States Bicentennial, the organization is a recreation of an actual Civil War unit with a rich and distinguished history. Today’s Tenth Michigan Infantry has participated in over 400 events all across the United States throughout its 35-year history.
\nPlease check our website at www.tenthmichiganinfantry.com<\/a> for a complete schedule of events and other information on the 2011 Mid Michigan Muster.
