Salters, Kenneth Lee Parker<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Clare E. Salters<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/salters_clare.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Clare E. Salters died September 13, 2011 at the age of 85. Born in St. Johns, Michigan on September 10, 1926, the son of Arthur and Helen (Hunt) Salters. He was a veteran of WWII and worked for Diamond Reo, Hettler Motors and Vans Auto Parts. Clare married Emma Paseka on November 1, 1947 and she preceded him in death on May 14, 2002.<br \/>\nClare is survived by one son, Doug (Vicky) Salters of Dewitt, one daughter, Charlotte (Carl) Workman of Ovid, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two brothers, Donald (Kate) Salters of Lansing, and Leon (Linda) Salters of Horsehead Lake, two sisters, Betty Blemaster of St. Johns, and Lena (Art) Hertzberg of Owosso, brother-in-law, Frank Halstead, and sister-in-law, Helen Mitosinka. Clare was preceded in death by one sister, Marguerite Halstead, and three brothers, Stewart Salters, Bob Salters, and Lawrence Salters.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2011, at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns. Burial will follow at Eureka Cemetery with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Thursday and 12-2 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. The family was served by The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Kenneth Lee Parker<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/parker_kenneth.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Kenneth Lee Parker, beloved husband, father, papa, son, brother, uncle and friend, died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the age of 54. Ken fought a short but valiant fight with cancer. He was born July 2, 1957 to Robert and Lois (Pierson) Parker Sr. He was a graduate of St. Johns High School, Class of 1976. Ken was proud to say he was a retired Navy veteran, serving 1979 to 1996. He participated in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield. He also served on several different ships including the USS IOWA in 1989 during the tragic explosion that killed many of his fellow seamen.<br \/>\nKen was a current member of American Legion Post #153 in St. Johns.  He was employed for the past 12 years by Sparrow Regional Medical Supply and was affectionately known by some of his clients as \u201cKen the Oxygen Guy\u201d. On May 5, 2001 he married Shirley Joy Evans Mills and she survives him.<br \/>\nAlso surviving are their 5 children, Jessica (Brian) Fox of Southgate, MI, Lyle Parker, Amy Witgen (Joe Ellis), Alan (Selina) Mills all of St. Johns, Kirk (Jackie Loos) Mills of Portage, MI; six grandchildren, Candace, Nick, Mikayla, Haley, Jayden, and baby Miles; special niece Chantelle Foster; his mother, Lois Parker of Bullhead City, AZ; brothers and sisters, Kathy Cobb of Van Nuys, CA, Robert Jr. (Cathy) of Lansing, Paul of Bullhead City, AZ, John (Barb) of Ovid, Jeannie (John) Melin of Herndon VA, Richard of Van Nuys, CA, Joseph of Henderson, NV., Christopher (Julia) of Wyoming MI, David of Lansing; in-laws Robert and Arlene Bauman of Clare.  Ken was preceded in death by his father; brother, Larry; brother-in-law, Thomas Cobb; nieces, Katrina Foster, Tanya Evans, and Kelsey Bauman.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a>, St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Dwight Ezop officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Military honors will be provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard. The family will receive relatives and friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
