The couple&#8217;s vision of creating a historic house museum came to fruition on May of 1979, when the Paine-Gillam-Scott Museum at 106 Maple Street in St. Johns opened its doors for the first time. Their vision, knowledge, and enthusiasm, along with endless time and talents set the standards for the museum&#8217;s continuance.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/gallery\/11oct\/rumbaugh2.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"image\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" \/><br \/>\nCatherine served the Historical Society as President for many years, and continued her work following John&#8217;s death in 1998. She became the Executive Director of the Museum at it&#8217;s opening, and continued in that capacity for nearly 32 years until her retirement in December of 2010.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/gallery\/11oct\/rumbaugh3.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"image\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" \/><br \/>\nAt the reception, Catherine Rumbaugh was honored with the titles &#8220;Historian&#8221; and &#8220;Director Emeritus&#8221; by Lynne Gregory of the Clinton County Historical Society.
