It really isn’t any of my business nor is it important to me what adults do in their own bedroom. The whole thing would be like me running up and down the street yelling, “I’m straight, I’m straight!”
Gees, let it be private.
I don’t have to be told a person is black. If it makes them feel better to be called African-American then I’m European-American plus my older brother tells me I’m part Indian-American and I want whoever needs that information to take note of that too.
It’s my turn now.
I don’t need anybody to tell me they’re liberal, I can tell by their words and actions. David Letterman is liberal and Jay Leno is conservative. The same holds true for me. I needn’t tell anybody I’m conservative, they can tell by what I write.
For those who think they have problems or issues, spare me, I have problems and issues of my own and I don’t have time for yours.
Deal with it yourself.

* * *

We had our chimney cleaned this past weekend. It’s something we’ve learned to do regularly after a couple of chimney fires. Talk about something scary. No matter what it costs, having it cleaned is cheaper than a house fire.
The guy we’ve been getting the last couple of years showed up with his left arm and hand in a cast. He had recently fallen off a ladder when the ladder decided to go one way while he went the other. After surgery to get pins, a plate, and a cast, he’s thankfully on the mend and it reminds me why I don’t do it myself anymore.
A 67 year old man such as me will come off a roof or ladder much faster than a younger man only with worse results.

* * *

I felt bad for the Detroit Tigers Saturday night after they were blown out of the water by the Texas Rangers. They had a good season and did the best they could but fell short. We have nothing to regret, it was a fun season.
That’s why we’ve been given the Detroit Lions to root for and so far they look pretty good and even though they lost a tough one Sunday, we still have something to smile about.

* * *

What do I think about death? I know it’s coming, but I don’t worry about it. I’m a non-believer so I don’t expect I’ll exist for all eternity in some place where I can’t raise a little hell once in a while, and I hope the idea of reincarnation isn’t true. I can’t imagine who or what I’d come back as. Will they give me a choice?
Thinking about that scares the hell out of me more than dying.
I also don’t believe I’ll be punished for all eternity for doing the best I could in life no matter what I believed or didn’t believe. I can just see the Devil telling a subordinate that fire works on everybody except ol’ bauer, he seems to thrive on the heat (I’m cold-blooded).
Just put me in the ground and let me rest.

* * *

A few thoughts:
When is ESPN going into “damage control” and start playing Hank William’s “Are you ready for some football” song again? The whole thing seems ridiculous and needs correcting. I don’t care for people who want to mix their politics with my football.
Whatever happened to raisin bread with icing and salt rising bread?
Does Dennis Miller read Webster’s Dictionary in his spare time? He can sure put a lot of mostly unused words together in one sentence and it’s funny!
I try to hang onto things for as long as I can because I hate change. Change isn’t always good or a solution to a problem. Sometimes change becomes a problem itself. I think we’re seeing that now.
Want to disappear for a while? Plan a trip to Aruba. That seems to be working.
I predicted a Detroit/St. Louis World Series. I was half-right. Half-right isn’t good enough.
The only way to slow down time is to have to wait for something in the mail or someone to arrive. If you’re not looking forward to something you need to get a life.
We’re told that a new bridge between Detroit and Windsor won’t cost the taxpayers a dime. I suggest that if we find out later they lied to the Michigan taxpayers and we have to pay anything for it that all of those involved get acquainted with one of our fine prisons for at least a year. We really don’t need one more highway to have Canada, with their entire vast wilderness areas, truck their trash over here and dump it on the “Great Lakes State.” Guess I don’t understand the thinking behind that or why we accept it. Yes, I know, follow the money.
Until the next time . . .

[9

post-25350","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
