The Spartans ended up out of the top 25 in the college polls altogether. None of this voting takes in consideration of just how good a team is or its potential. It’s one of those, “What have you done for us a minute ago,” polls.
I don’t think that severe of a drop in the polls happens to any other team.
Michigan State has been proving them wrong every since and showed how invaluable their (whoever does the polls) opinions are. The Spartans are now ranked 9th in the AP poll. Take that America!
I’m a little nervous about the upcoming game at Nebraska. I think our record against them over the years sucks (0-5-0).
Please Spartans, don’t be intimidated by them. They put their jockstraps on one leg at a time just like you.

* * *

The way to drastically improve the economy is for the government to kindly remove their hands from around the throats of the American businesses. We are held to a much higher standard then China. We have child labor laws, the EPA, taxes, and we have a government that for some reason is beholden to the second and third World nations and feels they have to give them a piece of our economy. Then they tell us, “Gees, we don’t know what happened to the jobs.” And they get away with it.
Free trade agreements have given us huge trade deficits which means jobs and money are pouring offshore faster than we can replace them. Don’t you think we should hold those people accountable for the lost jobs or do you want to keep voting them back in office? Vote the way you want but don’t look at me when you start feeling like you’re living in a third World nation.

* * *

So Gadhafi is dead, what does that mean? Probably nothing to the U.S. right now but the mess over there will no doubt get bigger and we’ll get involved. We’re just that dumb. We’ll see soon enough. A country will less than 250 years of history cannot realistically expect to change countries with thousands of years of history of being just what they are.
It’s a joke on the civilized world that there’s a lot of oil over there and it comes with a price.
Why are we so concerned about how Gadhafi was killed when we personally executed Osama bin Laden. Gadhafi was shot in the head just like bin Laden and the question should also be ask of us, why didn’t we take Osama alive? Why are we asking that question of them anyway? We don’t have the right.
I think what we did set the example for what they did to Gadhafi. So there you are.

* * *

In 1970 my father died of peritonitis at age 58. I never really knew him in the way I would have liked to nor did I know how to handle his imminent death. Betty and I visited him in the hospital in Alma and when we left the only thing he said was, “I’ll neither hold you here or ask you to leave.” I should have given him a hug and told him I had forgiven him. I wasn’t mature enough at that time to do that. In less than a week he was gone.
There ought to be a national “Hug Your Parents” day. No Hallmark cards, no boxes of candy, no flowers. Just a hug.

* * *

We haven’t had our daily paper delivered for two days which prompted a call from me to them. Of course I was connected to their computer answering machine and I had to play dumb to get by it (I’m not dumb, at least I don’t think I am) and was connected to a live human being. You’re supposed to be able to ask for an “agent” but playing dumb gets me there faster.
A young lady answered and I asked her, “Did you cancel us or did we cancel you?”
“Sir?”
“We haven’t gotten a paper in two days.”
She looked at her computer and confirmed we were still a paying customer. “Do you want those missed editions?” I said, “No thanks, it’s old news by now.”
I also told her that if they produce a product and I pay for it and they don’t deliver it, am I crazy?
No answer.
Anyway, she promised a paper tomorrow (Thursday) and I thanked her and wished her a good day.
I realize that the young gal I was able to talk to is just hired help trying to make a living and I don’t get to talk to the CEO of the company. I didn’t get to kick him in the butt with those so called, “American Boots.”

* * *

A few thoughts:
Something that doesn’t seem right was the singing of the British national anthem before a NFL game. That’s what we get for playing NFL games in London.
I’m not sure I like Brian Williams’ politics but I sure like the guy. I really enjoy it when he’s on the Jimmy Fallon Late Night Show and they do that, “Slow Jamming the News,” piece.
Again the Detroit Lions lost not from lack of talent but coaching. Who calls all those dumb plays that yielded nothing? I’ll give you a hint, J.S. and S.L. You know who they are.
Until the next time . . .

[9

post-25449","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
