Computer Classes<\/strong> and more
\nGet connected with free computer classes at Briggs Public Library! The Briggs Library is pleased to offer a new program designed specifically for adults who are new to the world of computers and the Internet. We will be offering a two-part beginner’s computer class titled Computer Basics. Part one, Mastering the Mouse, will provide an overview of the components of a computer and computer terminology, and an introduction to working with Windows. Part two, Introduction to the Internet, will allow users to navigate a web browser, to find information online, and to effectively use the Briggs Public Library website. The class will be offered over two weeks – part one on November 22nd, and part two on November29th. Both sessions will start at 9am and last approximately one hour. Registration for this free class is required, and is now open.
\nMitten Tree <\/strong>
\nThe library will begin our annual mitten drive starting Monday, November 14th and ending Monday, December 12th. Mittens, gloves or scarves must be new (home-made or store bought.) The collection is for all ages, adult or child. Items collected will be donated to charitable organizations.
\nHoliday Programs 2011<\/strong>
\nHO! HO! HO! Visit with Santa! and enjoy holiday games, crafts and refreshments! Caroling Kids @ Briggs will perform at the beginning of each program. Dates to choose from are Thursday, December 1st (6-8 pm), Friday, December 2nd (6-8),or Saturday, December 3rd (10am-noon). Registration is not required … so mark your calendar for one of these free family programs.
\nAnnual Food Drive<\/strong>
\nBeginning Friday October 14th, Briggs Public Library would like your help in filling up our lobby display case with non-perishable food items to donate to the local food bank. Bring your canned and dried goods to the circulation desk and we will place them in the display case. What a great way to teach our children to care for our friends and neighbors in need.
\n*Please note: cans and boxes are preferred over glass containers and food expiration dates will be observed before acceptance.
\nFood donations will be accepted until Friday, November 18th.
\nTween Program<\/strong>
\nAll Tweens (ages 9-12) are invited to celebrate A Candlelit Christmas on Monday, December 5th from 7-8pm! This will be a special event featuring a story read by candlelight, great snacks, a Christmas trivia game, and a chance to design and make your own candle! Registration is required and begins Monday, November 7th. Don’t miss this fun holiday occasion.
\nLibrary Closures
\n<\/strong>
\nThe Library will be closed on Friday Nov. 11th for the Veteran’s Day Holiday. The Library will close at 5:00pm on Wednesday Nov. 23rd and be closed Nov. 24th, 25th and 26th for the Thanksgiving Day Holiday. The drop box on the Library porch will be available for returns throughout these closures.<\/p>\n
