Stump, Terrence Carey<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Charles Lee Simpson<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/simpson_charles.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Charles Lee Simpson, age 87, of Middlebury Township, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday morning, November 16, 2011. He was at home, surrounded by his loving family.<br \/>\nA Celebration of Life Service will take place at 1:00pm, Saturday, November 19, at Burton Community United Methodist Church in Owosso with Rev. Herbert Wheelock and Pastor Bob Tibbits officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Owosso Township. The family will receive friends at the Houghton Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes in Ovid on Thursday from 6-8pm and Friday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.<br \/>\nCharlie was born November 8, 1924 on the family farm to Charles K. and Addie (Ockerman) Simpson. He married Delores Waite August 21, 1948 in Owosso. He was a farmer all his life but was also employed over the years at Toledo Commutator, Ovid Oil and Al Par Peet. He was active in the community as a Middlebury Township Trustee for 28 years, and also was a member of the Maple Grove Cemetery Authority Board.<br \/>\nCharlie loved the Lord and served Him in many capacities at Burton Church. He could often be seen driving his tractor to the church to maintain the grounds or work on a project. He had a special relationship with God and was known as a Prayer Warrior, spending countless hours in prayer. He loved camping, hunting, visiting the neighbors, checking on local farming, and ice cream. He was a gentle soul and a dear friend to many people.<br \/>\nCharlie is survived by his wife, son Steve (Susan) Simpson of Henderson and daughter Tracey Simpson of Ovid, grandchildren Chris (Jessica)Simpson, Katie Simpson (Dylan Smythe, fiance), Chaz Simpson, Joshua and Jordan Dugener and great-granddaughter Sophia Simpson, sister-in-law Marlene Waller, brothers-in-law Clendon (Joyce)Waite and Lanny (Mary) Waite and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard. The family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Susann M. Stump<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/stump_susan.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Susann M. Stump, age 87, died November 14, 2011. Born July 14, 1924 in Clinton County, the daughter of Nicholas and Margaret (Thelen) Koenigsknecht, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo. Susann married Robert Stump at Most Holy Trinity Church on August 21, 1945 and he preceded her in death on April 20, 1965.<br \/>\nShe is survived by children, Donald (Pat) Stump of Pewamo, Jane (Dick) Miller of California, Rosanne (Roger) Schafer of St. Johns, Linda (Ed) Pung of Pewamo, Philip (Marcia) Stump of St. Johns, Thomas (Bridget) Stump of Pewamo and Bonnie (Mark) Davis of Florida, twenty six grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two brothers, Frank (Joanne) Koenigsknecht, Roman (Mary Ann) Koenigsknecht, one sister, Aggie (Leon) Keilen, three sisters-in-law, Carol, Mary Elizabeth and Margie Koenigsknecht, and many nieces and nephews. Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, one son, Frankie, brothers, Leo, Arnold, Rev. Fr. Bill, Benno, Mark, Nick and John Koenigsknecht, sisters, Helen Stump, Louise Burns, Rosie Smith and Martha Koenigsknecht.<br \/>\nThe Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 A.M. Thursday, November 17th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo with the Reverend Father Charlon Mason officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes in Fowler at 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Wednesday with a rosary at 3 P.M. and a scripture service at 8 P.M. Sympathies will be expressed to a charity of her family\u2019s choice. The family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Terrence Carey<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/carey_terry.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Terrence Carey, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011, at home with his family by his side.<br \/>\nA Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding and Deacon Larry Fussman assisting.<br \/>\nThe family will receive friends at <a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/www.charlesrlux.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home<\/a>, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 8 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to Mass.<br \/>\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CMU Athletics, CMU Park Library, or Sacred Heart Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.<br \/>\nTerry was born March 27, 1923 in Mt. Pleasant,the son of the late Joseph P. and Ida M. (Brugge) Carey. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1941 and received his Bachelor\u2019s degree from Central Michigan University. After enlisting in the U.S. Navy, he attended officer training school (V-12 Program) at Bowling Green and Ohio State Universities.<br \/>\nOn June 28, 1947 he married Elinor \u201cTrix\u201d Wendt at Sacred Heart Church and continued his education at the University of Michigan, receiving his Master\u2019s degree, and eventually, his Ph. D. from Michigan State University.<br \/>\nTerry was a very successful <strong>football coach at St. Johns High School from 1947-1952<\/strong>. He later coached at Niles High School from 1952-1959, spending two of those years as the school\u2019s Assistant Principal.<br \/>\nThe next two years he was Principal of St. Louis High School before serving as the Director of Admissions at MSU from 1961-1970. Returning back home to Mt. Pleasant in 1970, Terry was the Vice President of University Relations\/Secretary Board of Trustees at CMU, retiring in 1982. In his retirement, he and his wife spent summers at Intermediate Lake in Central Lake and winters at North Myrtle Beach, SC. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed reading.<br \/>\nTerry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Trix Carey; two sons, Mike (Sue) Carey of Mt. Pleasant and Mark (Kathy) Carey of Grand Rapids; three grandchildren, Shannon (Mark) Dillon of Sacramento, CA, Erin (Andy) Schor of Lansing and Sean (Katie) Carey of Lansing; four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Hannah, Sarah and James; his brother, Paul (Nancy) Carey of Rochester; and two nephews, Jeffrey DeLong and Michael Murphy.<br \/>\nHe was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Murphy and Betty DeLong.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Visit us at <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/sjindy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/twitter.com\/sjindy<\/a>and begin to follow us today.
