The seminar begins at 5:30 pm in the Banquet Conference Center of DeWitt, 1120 Commerce Park Drive, off Old US 27 in DeWitt.<br \/>\n&#8220;It&#8217;s about assets, income and profit, but it&#8217;s also about family and values&#8221; said Jim Nowak of GreenStone Farm Credit Services.<br \/>\nDesigned to be informative, entertaining and easy to understand, the seminar features presentations by a panel of legal, insurance, real estate, banking and financial professionals.<br \/>\nLeading presenters include Thomas Cooley Law School Professor Gary Bauer and Douglas Chalgian. Bauer teaches Elder Law; Wills, Trusts Estates; and he established the Sixty-Plus Estate Planning Clinic. Chalgian is recognized as one of the leading Elder Law attorneys in Michigan, and author of the principal source of Medicaid planning in the state.<br \/>\nPanel members will help you learn the process and alternatives to help your family transition the ownership and management of the business; gain insight in understanding individual, family and business needs; review best practices in family communications; and develop next steps in building business succession plans.<br \/>\nPlanning for succession &#8211; including simple estate planning &#8211; can be a daunting task. It requires time, resources, and difficult decisions. However, broken into manageable steps, with the understanding that it is not a one-time event but rather a continuous exercise, succession planning can be achieved.<br \/>\nFarm families who attend will receive a copy of the 2nd Edition of the 98-page workbook, Planning the Future of Your Farm.<br \/>\nThis is a free public service.
