\nThree pots of geraniums are all that remain of summer’s bright colors.<\/p>\n
A pretty pink and a pair of vibrant reds have kept their blossoms throughout the fall – with a bit of coaxing and care. They’ve greeted me each morning, saying hello from outside my window to provide cheer during hours spent writing stories.
\nThey moved indoors two days ago, eager for a well-earned rest in the cool basement where they will slumber peacefully through the coming winter months.
\nThe change to their new home came just in time, as things turned out.
\nTuesday’s rain and wind would not have been friendly to the pretty posies, and the wet, heavy snow that fell throughout the evening hours would surely have broken their stems – and hearts.
\nSnow blanketed the spot this morning where the flower pots had sat – lots and lots of snow. The whiteness, bending down evergreen branches and glistening in the sun, was pretty in its own way, but I certainly miss seeing my geraniums.
\nVisiting in the basement just isn’t quite the same, and apparently my green thumb isn’t green enough to over-winter geraniums on the plant stand next to my desk. I’ll have to work on that.
