The award recognizes the accomplishments of small or rural hospital leaders who have improved healthcare delivery in their communities through innovative and progressive efforts.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/gallery\/11dec\/bruun.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"image\" class=\"alignleft size-full\" \/>Bruun&#8217;s achievements include helping transition Sparrow Clinton Hospital into a thriving community hospital that is nationally recognized for its quality, patient satisfaction, innovative services, and community engagement. Under his leadership, Sparrow Clinton Hospital has increased access to care through expanded specialty services and unique programs to combat childhood obesity and support cancer patients.<br \/>\nBruun also has been a driving force behind the Clinton County Healthy Community Coalition, a group of more than 20 agencies that organizes an annual health fair, Safe Kids child safety programs and monthly food distributions.<br \/>\nThe 2011 winner of the American Hospital Association Shirley Ann Munroe Leadership Award is James Dickson, CEO of Cooper Queen Community Hospital in Bisbee, AZ.<br \/>\nOther finalists include Mark Herzog, President and CEO of Holy Family Memorial in Manitowoc, WI; and Bryan Slaba, CEO of Wagner Community Memorial Hospital &#8211; Avera in Wagner, SD.<br \/>\nSparrow Clinton Hospital in St. Johns, a division of Lansing-based Sparrow health system, is committed to providing quality, compassionate care to every patient, every time.
