{"id":26373,"date":"2011-12-22T21:54:34","date_gmt":"2011-12-23T01:54:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/?p=26373"},"modified":"2011-12-22T21:54:34","modified_gmt":"2011-12-23T01:54:34","slug":"sparrow-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/sparrow-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Olympic hopeful Jordyn Wieber wows patients"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/gallery\/11dec\/jordynth.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"image\" class=\"alignleft size-full\" \/>At Sparrow Children&#8217;s Center<!--more--><br \/>\nWorld Champion gymnast Jordyn Wieber of DeWitt took a break from training for the 2012 London Olympic Games to encourage the young Patients in the Sparrow Children&#8217;s Center.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/gallery\/11dec\/jordyn.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"image\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" \/><br \/>\nAubrey Soul, 3, was too shy to talk much, but that didn&#8217;t stop her from giving Jordyn a big hug in the playroom.<br \/>\n&#8220;It&#8217;s very neat,&#8221; her father, Rick Soul, said. &#8220;It&#8217;s so cool to see Jordyn taking the time to visit the kids.&#8221;<br \/>\nJordyn, 16, recently won an all-around gold medal in the 2011 World Gymnastics Championships. Her mother, Rita Wieber, is a nurse in Sparrow&#8217;s Emergency Department.<br \/>\n&#8220;I&#8217;m so happy to be here,&#8221; Jordyn said. &#8220;It was just awesome to be here and visit with these awesome kids.&#8221;<br \/>\nJordyn is also helping promote the June 1-2 Sparrow Children&#8217;s Center Telethon, which raises money for the Center and Children&#8217;s Miracle Network.<br \/>\nFor more than a century, Sparrow has been a leader in caring for children. The first hospital in mid-Michigan to offer a dedicated children&#8217;s unit, Sparrow today is home to the region&#8217;s only full-service pediatric emergency department.
