I am an energetic little guy and will need an active home as I am full of energy. I love to take walks and I get really excited when the leash comes out! I must have a fenced in yard because if given the chance I will take myself for a run…..and boy do I love to run! If you like to run I am the dog for you!
Oh boy, we could run together! Please adopt me because my foster Mom says she’s too old and overweight to run with me!
I am young and estimated to be around a year old. I am working on housetraining, but haven’t quite got the hang of it yet. My foster Mom says I am doing well though. I am very smart and starting to learn some commands. I know “stay” so far and am working on “sit”.
I am very friendly and love everyone I meet. I get along with other dogs and love to play but sometimes I get a little rambunctious. I am just a kid yet! I probably wouldn’t do well in a home with cats as they don’t appreciate my playfulness.
My foster Mom says I am very funny, and sometimes I bark at my water dish when it gurgles after I take a drink. I am a happy go lucky kind of guy with a lot of personality. If you are looking for someone to have fun with, check me out! I am very loving, fun kind of guy!
Thanks for reading about me.
Your soon-to-be new best friend.
If you have any questions, please email julemson@wmol.com.
This dog is fostered in Grand Rapids.

Breed: Skye Terrier mix
DOB: 2010
Sex: Neutered male
Weight: 18 pounds
Foster home: Vicki K.

Breanne
Breanne came from a shelter underweight, sores on the bottoms of her paws, nails worn down to stubs, hair falling out, and acted like she had never drank water in her life. We think that she was kept in a crate for the first five months of her life based on the sores on her paws and the fact that she paced in circles. Since being in foster care, she has put on weight, her fur is full and healthy, her paws have healed, and her pacing has greatly improved.
To top things off Breanne is deaf and had never been worked with. But, within the first week of being in foster care, she responded immediately to hand signals. Since then she progresses with her learning and is always looking for her foster mom to signal her with something to do. She is very smart!
Along with a spunky personality, Breanne has the most comical ears. They flip around every which way, from being folded in the middle, to one being straight up and the other down. Her ears are always whirling around in different directions. Just when she’s has gotten caught getting into mischief, she will look at you with an incredibly cute expression and her ears will flop into a pose. It’s very hard to not laugh!
She loves playing with her fur friends and loves people of all ages. Now that summer is here, she can’t wait until the pool gets filled everyday. She will pace around until her foster mom finishes filling it and then jump in! With her fur friends she wrestles and plays tug with toys. She even tries to play with the cat in the house and seems to get disappointed when the cat walks away.
Breanne is potty and crate trained. It is required that Breanne be adopted out to a home that has a fenced in yard, and this does not include invisible fencing.
Please note: Breanne will not be adopted outside the state of Michigan!
You can read about deaf dogs at http://www.deafdogs.org
E-mail julemson@wmol.com if you have any specific questions.

Breed: American Staffordshire mix
DOB: 10-2009
Sex: Spayed female
Weight: 50 pounds
Foster home: Jodi

Deacon
Looking into Deacon’s eyes you would never know the struggles that he has endured in his short life. Deacon was originally surrendered to a shelter in Indiana. And after the long trip to Lansing, he was only in his foster home for a couple days before he fell very ill and was diagnosed with Parvo. Parvo is a virus that infects dogs that are not properly vaccinated and can be fatal, especially in puppies. But this tenacious pup beat the odds and pulled through!!! Today, Deacon is fully recuperated from his illness and is in good health.
Also as part of his journey, Deacon was already adopted once. But unfortunately he was returned to APB after that family decided he just wasn’t the right match after all. Deacon needs adopters who are willing to work with him and understand his needs as a young, large, energetic dog.
Overall, Deacon is just an awesome dog. He is very loving and playful. He loves to snuggle, but doesn’t quite understand that he’s not lap-dog size. He loves to run and play with the other dogs (both big and small) in his foster home. Deacon is very smart and learns quickly. He knows his basic commands: sit, lay down, come, go outside, etc. He also knows how to shake and give a high five. Deacon does well on car rides, and likes to go on walks.
Deacon has a very gentle soul, but he is still fairly young, so when he gets excited, he can be jumpy or mouthy. His foster mom is working on these training issues with him. But he could benefit from the training and bonding of an obedience class when he finds his fur-ever home.
Deacon is used to being crated during the day, but he’s not a fan of it and can be a bit of an escape artist. His foster mom can give you a recommendation in the best way to contain him. Deacon is housetrained, and he is trained to use a bell hung next to the door as a signal to go outside.
Deacon likes children. But he’s just a kid himself and doesn’t know his own strength, so his foster mom recommends that he be supervised around children.
If you are interested in learning more about Deacon, you can contact lisa@schnauzerama.org with questions or fill out the adoption application at: http://www.apbpets.com/application.htm

Breed: Pit Bull/Staffordshire Terrier/Great Dane mix
DOB: 10-2010
Sex: Neutered male
Weight: 80 pounds
Foster home: Laurie

[13

post-27631","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-pets
["GET
