Join the fun at Ireland in Song and Story, a program of traditional Irish songs and story-telling on Thursday March 15 <\/strong>at 7:00 pm at the VFW hall in St Johns.
\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/gallery\/12mar\/eoin.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"image\" class=\"alignright size-full\" \/>The featured presenter is Father Eoin Murphy, priest at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns, who will be returning to Ireland in June. He is a trained tenor with a lovely Irish lilt who is also adept at sharing a bit of the blarney. The Mint City Singers also will entertain with a few traditional songs.
\nAll proceeds will go toward the restoration of the several historic railcars owned by the Clinton County Arts Council (CCAC). Thankfully, the council receives some funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, but those funds must go for CCAC operating expenses rather than helping to fund this large project.
\nThe plan is that as the exteriors of the historic cars are restored, they will become part of the new linear park to be developed east of the St Johns Depot. The creation of this cultural tourist destination in the depot area will provide a living-history lesson for all.
\nBe sure to mark you calendar – now. Join the fun and a bit of the wearing of the green on Thursday March 15, 2012 7- 8:30 pm.
\nAdmission is just $10 for adults, $5 for children, and a special family rate of $25. Cash or checks will be accepted at the door, but not credit cards. Maximum seating is for 300; the doors will open at 6:30. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Fr.
