{"id":27800,"date":"2012-03-15T20:49:26","date_gmt":"2012-03-16T00:49:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/?p=27800"},"modified":"2012-03-15T20:49:26","modified_gmt":"2012-03-16T00:49:26","slug":"library-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/library-8\/","title":{"rendered":"Art Display at Briggs Public Library"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/gallery\/12mar\/0309th.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"image\" class=\"alignleft size-full\" \/>Until March 31<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Briggs Public Library is hosting the 17th annual art exchange now until March 31.<br \/>\nThe opening reception on March 6 featured Japanese songs by the students of East Olive and Riley elementary schools under the direction of Ms. Shirley Anne Ries.<br \/>\nSpecial guests included the official representative of Michigan&#8217;s sister state in Japan, Mr. Junichi Tanoue, and Mrs. Lillian Kumata who fostered the sister state agreement beginning in 1968.<br \/>\nSpecial thanks go for support from library staff and the City of St. Johns, the reception treats from Big Boy, and the artwork gathered by art teachers of St. Johns elementary and middle schools, St. Joseph and St. Peters.<br \/>\nThis annual event has been coordinated by the St. Johns &#8211; Konan-city Friendship Committee since 1996 and is a standout among sister-city programs nationwide.
