{"id":28260,"date":"2012-04-05T20:45:35","date_gmt":"2012-04-06T00:45:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/?p=28260"},"modified":"2012-04-05T20:45:35","modified_gmt":"2012-04-06T00:45:35","slug":"letters-86","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/letters-86\/","title":{"rendered":"Letters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/gallery\/12april\/mohth.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"image\" class=\"alignleft size-full\" \/>Addition to the Veterans List and a little help, please<!--more--><br \/>\nWe need to add to the <a href=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/2011\/09\/vets\/http:\/\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Civil War Veteran&#8217;s list<\/a>, after the name of:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/gallery\/12april\/moh.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"image\" class=\"alignright size-full\" \/>James Robinson Medal Of Honor Recipient<br \/>\nThis information came this winter when Glenn Geirland added the names of veterans on the Memorial to www.findagrave.com and asked the cemeteries where the veterans were buried to post a picture of their headstones on their site.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/cgi-bin\/fg.cgi?page=gr&#038;GRid=7874959\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">95http:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/cgi-bin\/fg.cgi?page=gr&#038;GRid=78749<\/a><br \/>\nCivil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He enlisted in the Union Army at the age of 18, and was mustered in as a Private in Company B, 3rd Michigan Volunteer Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery in action on January 27, 1864 at Brownsville Station, Arkansas. His citation reads &#8220;Successfully defended himself, singlehandedly, against seven guerrillas, killing the leader (Capt. W.C. Stephenson) and driving off the remainder of the party.&#8221; He was awarded his Medal on April 4, 1864, and died of disease at Memphis, Tennessee three months later.<br \/>\nGordon Shipley<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>A little help, please<\/strong><br \/>\nHello, I have been trying for years to research my family tree. Dead end after dead end! So I am hoping you can help me.<br \/>\nI have an old newspaper article the only date I can see is June 17. No year\u2026 The title of the article says: \u201cThree Burned to death in Blast; St. Johns June 17 Three people were burned to death and Mr &#038; Mrs. Evan (?) it is not to clear, Wilson suffered minor burns.\u201d<br \/>\nThe whole article is very blurry. I can see in the article it says that \u201call of the bodies were taken to Ebert funeral home in St. Johns.\u201d<br \/>\nIt says something, ? the dead are \u201cK?? Wilson brother of Iras Wilson\u201d \u201cKenneth Richard Smith\u201d and I cannot make out the rest.<br \/>\nSo I am really hoping that maybe you can help me\u2026 The family name I am searching is \u201cWillson\/Wilson\u201d Charles N. Willson and Frances \u201cFannie\u201d Willson. I think they are from Owosso, Mich\u2026 I am just stuck!<br \/>\nAnything you could help me with\u2026I would be so thankful!!
