Smith, Lois J. Warren, H. Maxine Sipkovsky, Hildegard T. Keilen, Edward Paul Kelbel, Jr., Walter J. Archer<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Stella M. Smith<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/smith_stella.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Stella M. Smith passed away on April 4, 2012, at the age of 86 in Lansing, Michigan. Stella was born in Eaton Rapids, Michigan on November 7, 1925, the daughter of Herbert and Dorothy (Edick) Wise. She was a loving wife and worked as a bookkeeper at Total Petroleum. She married Raymond Smith on September 20, 1946 in Lansing, Michigan and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2005.<br \/>\nStella is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews who brought great joy into her life. Along with her parents and husband, Stella was preceded in death by her sisters, Amy Seavolt and Carolyn Rowley and her brother, Stanley Wise.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be 11 A.M. Saturday April 7, 2012 at the Osgood Funeral Home 104 East Cass St., St. Johns, Michigan with Pastor Jameson officiating. Burial will follow at the Putman Cemetery in Laingsburg. Her family will receive friends 2 \u2013 4 and 6 \u2013 8 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sparrow Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. The family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Lois J. Warren<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/warren_lois.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Lois J. Warren, age 81, passed away April 1, 2012 in St. Johns, Michigan. Lois was born in Bingham Township, Michigan on June 24, 1930, the daughter of John and Florence (Bailey) Ordway. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in 1949 and retired as a cook from Fulton Schools in 1992 after 18 years of service. On September 29, 1951, Lois married Franklin D. \u201cBud\u201d Warren and he preceded her in death December 24, 1996.<br \/>\nSurviving are three daughters, Cheryl (Thomas) Townsend of Maple Rapids, Annette (Tim) Pierce of Eaton Rapids and Elaine (Jim) Larsen of Fowler, one son, Bradford (Mary) Warren of Maple Rapids, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and one sister, Donna Williams of Prudenville, Michigan.<br \/>\nLois\u2019 wishes were to be cremated. There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held at 4 P.M. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Eureka Cemetery with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the American Cancer Society or to a charity of her family\u2019s choice. The family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>H. Maxine Sipkovsky<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/sipkovsky_maxine.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>H. Maxine Sipkovsky died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the age of 92. She was born September 7, 1919 in Ashley, MI the eldest of three children born to Leo and Mabel (Zimmerman) Amspoker. Maxine was Valedictorian of her 1936 graduating class at Ashley High School and attended Alma College. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns and active with the Altar Society at the church. She was a member of the former Clinton County Country Club, the Farm Bureau and was an active and longtime member and is currently an Honorary Member of the Clinton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was employed for 36 years at the Carol Ann Shop formerly known as the Mary Frances Shop in St. Johns, a job she loved. Her family was dear to her heart and she was proud of their accomplishments.<br \/>\nShe was \u201cGG\u201d to her great grandchildren. On May 16, 1942 she married Frank Sipkovsky at St. Cyril\u2019s Catholic Church in Bannister and in 1944 they purchased muck land in St. Johns and raised their family on the farm. Frank preceded her in death in 1996 but Maxine continued to live on the farm surrounded by her family.  She was also predeceased by a brother, Robert Amspoker.<br \/>\nSurviving are two daughters, Carol Ann (Roger) Keys and Janet Sipkovsky; two granddaughters, Stephanie (Randy) Padgett and Kim (Rick) Kellogg; three great granddaughters, Samantha Kellogg, Sydney and Bailey Padgett; one sister Phyllis (Don) Mazzolini; sister-in-law and close friend, June Sipkovsky all of St. Johns.<br \/>\nMass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Linden St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Dwight Ezop as Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM with a vigil service at 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 10 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns. Memorials may be made to Sparrow Clinton Hospital Auxiliary, P.O. Box 260 St. Johns or St. Joseph Catholic School 201 E. Cass St. Johns, MI 48879.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Hildegard T. Keilen<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/keilen_hilda.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Hildegard T. (Simon) Keilen, age 81, passed away on April 1, 2012 in St. Johns, Michigan. Hildegard was born April 12, 1930 in Pewamo, Michigan, the daughter of William and Julia (Smith) Simon. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. She managed the Min-A-Mart store in St. Johns for 22 years. She married Francis J. Keilen on June 1, 1949 and he preceded her in death on September 1, 2007.<br \/>\nShe is survived by her children, Joe (Janean) Keilen of St. Johns, Mike (Cindy) Keilen of Elk Rapids, Ron (Jill) Keilen of Dewitt, Sharon (Ed) Moinet of St. Johns, Ellen (Chris) Halfmann of Grandville, Steve (Lori) Keilen of Sudbury, MA, Gary Keilen of Austin, TX, and Julie Keilen of St. Louis; twenty eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Hilda is also survived by her two brothers, Stanley Simon of Higgins Lake and Gerald (JoAnn) Simon of Pewamo and four sisters, Isabel (Charles) Hewitt of Elyria, OH, Mary Ellen (Terry) Burns of Lansing, Joanne (Jay) Schafer of Grand Ledge and Donna (Kenneth) Fedewa of Charlotte and siter-in-law, Helen Simon. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Simon.<br \/>\nThe Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with The Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the Osgood Funeral Home 104 E. Cass St. in St. Johns with a Rosary Service prayed at 7 P.M. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic School Scholarship Fund in St. Johns or the Great Lakes Home Hospice. There will be a meal following the committal service at the St. Johns Knights of Columbus Hall. The family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Edward Paul Kelbel, Jr.<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/krebel_edward.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Edward Paul Kelbel, Jr. age 52 He passed away March 28, 2012. Ed(ward) was the beloved husband of Rosemary Ann (Breithaupt). Their love filled marriage spanned 28 years. Ed was a loving father to his son Ted, daughter-in law Katie, and daughter Tricia.<br \/>\n He is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Kelbel, two brothers and three sisters: Mark (Audrey) Kelbel of Colorado Springs and children Remy, Karris, and John; Pete (Linda) Kelbel of Petoskey MI, and children Mackenzie, Peter, and Grace; Julie (David) Leik of Greensboro, NC and children Cassie, Emily, and Chandler; Sue (Todd) Ortlieb of Petoskey, MI and children Cal and Emma; Mollie (Mark) Carter of Harbor Springs, MI and children Jack and Caroline. He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Paul Kelbel Sr, Harbor Springs MI.<br \/>\nEd recently marked 27 years of membership in the PGA of America. He was employed by the University of Colorado Colorado Springs as the director of Professional Golf Management Program. He truly enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge of golf and the golf business with his students. Prior to moving to Colorado Springs in August of 2006 he had been the General Manager and PGA professional at The Emerald Golf Course in St. Johns, MI. He was instrumental in growing this business for 12 years. He also worked at the Cheboygan Golf and Country Club and Petoskey Bay View Country Club, MI as their golf professional.<br \/>\nEd graduated from Michigan State University in 1981 and received his master&#8217;s degree from Ferris State University in 1986. At MSU Ed was a varsity golf scholarship letter winner. His high school years were spent at Harbor Springs High School where he was instrumental in establishing the Golf team in 1974. He was both State Champion and a United States All American Golfer in 1976. Additionally, he participated in the baseball and basketball teams and is still listed among the top 10 Harbor Springs Basketball scoring list despite playing before the three point line.<br \/>\nThere will be memorial events in Colorado Springs and Michigan with visitation planned for Monday April 2nd at 7PM at St. Paul Catholic Church, 9 El Pomar Road. Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday April 3rd at 10AM followed by a luncheon in the Julie Penrose Hall at St. Paul&#8217;s. Ed will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in Harbor Springs, MI.<br \/>\nA scholarship fund will be set up in Ed&#8217;s Memory to honor students in the UCCS Professional Golf Management Program, details to be available through UCCS. The family encourages masses to be said for the repose of his soul, helping others through random acts of kindness, spreading joy and kindness to those who cross our paths and enjoying the beauty of God&#8217;s creation that surrounds us.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Walter J. Archer<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/archer_walter.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Walter J. Archer, age 89, passed away on March 29, 2012 in Lansing, Michigan. Walter was born October 10, 1922 in Chapin, the son of Fred and Edith (Kellogg) Archer. He married Bonnie Lou Thompson in June of 1946 and she preceded him in death in January of 1983. Walt served in WWII in the United States Army, 136th Infantry 33rd Division in the Asiatic Pacific Theater from July 10, 1943 to December 25, 1945. He received 3 Bronze Battle Stars, with Liberation Ribbon and Good Conduct medal and 5 overseas service bars.<br \/>\nWalt was also a truck driver after WWII and retired from Motor Wheel in 1981 after 38 years of service. He was a longtime member of the Lake Eagles and the Lake Rod and Gun Club, he was a loving, kind man and wonderful father and grandfather who gave of himself and helped others whenever anyone was in need.<br \/>\nWalt is survived by his daughters, Connie Rey, Jodi (George) Baker, and granddaughter, Bonnie Baker. Also preceding him in death are his son, Walter James Archer II, son in law, Perry Rey, his parents, and brother, Ernest Archer.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday April 2, 2012 at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, with Pastor Hale officiating, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorial contributions in Walter\u2019s memory to VFW of Lake, MI or any Humane Society. Military Services provided by VFW Post #4113.
