Mishler celebrated her 50th year of volunteer service at the hospital with her daughter Candy Chapman.<\/em><!--more--><br \/>\nWhen Sparrow Clinton Hospital was founded in 1927, volunteers played an integral role in the development and delivery of quality health care. Today, volunteers remain a most valued asset at the hospital.<br \/>\nIn celebration of current contributions, Sparrow Clinton Hospital honored volunteers&#8217; achievements at its annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon.<br \/>\nAll volunteers in good standing were invited to share in the celebration, which recognized the exceptional achievements made by hospital volunteers in 2011.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/gallery\/12april\/matson.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"image\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" \/><br \/>\nDan Matson of DeWitt was named 2011 Volunteer of the Year. An active Sparrow Clinton Hospital advocate or more than 41 years, Matson has played a vital role with recruitment of dozens of top community leaders in support of hospital events and programs.<br \/>\nUnder his direction, the SCH Foundation has hosted more than 100 estate planning and charitable giving seminars. He currently chairs the SCH Planned Giving Committee and is an active member of the hospital&#8217;s Nominating and Foundation committees. A much-respect attorney, he serves as City Attorney for DeWitt and Village Attorney for Fowler, and is Chairman of the Michigan Municipal League. Also an accomplished painter and poet, Matson holds a seat on the Clinton County Arts Council Board of Directors.<br \/>\n&#8220;Giving 110 percent aptly describes Dan Matson,&#8221; said Nan Simons, director of Sparrow Clinton Hospital Community Relations, Marketing &#038; Volunteers. &#8220;Dan is a dedicated hospital advocate and an outstanding asset in the planning and execution of projects and events. We are very lucky to have the opportunity to work with him.&#8221;<br \/>\nKay Mishler of St. Johns, who completed her 50th year of volunteer service with the hospital, was honored as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.<br \/>\nMishler was named 1990 Auxilian of the Year and has twice served as Auxiliary President. She remains an active supporter of SCH Auxiliary events and regularly assists with hospital blood drives. In addition, her community service via the American Legion spans more than 40 years.<br \/>\nSparrow Clinton Hospital volunteers contributed more than 7,000 hours of service in 2011.
