{"id":28675,"date":"2012-05-03T20:56:31","date_gmt":"2012-05-04T00:56:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/?p=28675"},"modified":"2012-05-03T20:56:31","modified_gmt":"2012-05-04T00:56:31","slug":"lions-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/lions-8\/","title":{"rendered":"St. Johns Lions Recycle For Sight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Used eyeglasses<!--more--><br \/>\nAs spring cleaning gets under way, the St. Johns Lions are asking people to look through dresser drawers and closets for used eyeglasses and donate them to the Lions Recycle For Sight program.<br \/>\nDuring the month of May the St. Johns Lions Club will be collecting used prescription eyeglasses and prescription and non-prescription sunglasses as part of aunique recycling program. The collected glasses will be cleaned and prepared for distribution in developing countries where eye care is often unaffordable and inaccessible.<br \/>\n&#8220;We need everyone to donate their used eyeglasses,&#8221; said Lion Kathleen Campbell, 5ecretary of the Lions Club. &#8220;In most developing countries, an eye exam can cost as much as one month&#8217;s wages and a single eye doctor may serve a community of hundreds of thousands of people.&#8221;<br \/>\nThe donated glasses will be shipped to a regional Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center where they will be c1eaned,categorized by prescription and prepared for distribution by Lions and other groups.<br \/>\nTo donate used glasses (including sunglasses and reading glasses),place them in the specially marked Lions Recycle For Sight collection boxes located at St. Johns Public Library; Big Boy of St. Johns; Main Street Cafe, St. Johns, MI; several Sr. Johns Elementary Schools -St. Joseph School, Gateway North; Oakview South.<br \/>\nSt. Johns Lions Club is a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
