Kevin is running as a Republican, replacing Paul Opsommer, who is term-limited.
\nI first got to know Kevin when he ran for the St. Johns Public Schools Board of Education in 1986. Kevin served as a board member for 19 years-IS years as Board President. Through his leadership, St. Johns Public Schools addressed many financial issues and challenges to create an environment for our school district to enable all children to learn in updated facilities.
\nUnder his leadership, our community passed a $42.5 million bond that had previously failed four times. This effort enabled the community to build two new elementary schools, remodel four others, construct a new middle school and add a new wing to the high school, along with technology upgrades. Our community will benefit from his efforts for many years to come.
\nIn addition, for 32 years Kevin has specialized in helping grow Michigan agriculture while preserving our natural resources, working for the Michigan Farm Bureau and Michigan Department of Agriculture. Kevin has worked with over 60 townships developing livestock and environmental ordinances. His ingenuity led to the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) which has certified over 1,000 farmers.
\nKevin possesses a keen awareness of both long-term and short-term needs of our communities for balanced and sustainable economic development. Kevin is a caring, dedicated, and community-orientated individual. He actively listens to all sides of a debate and uses all available information to make a decision.
\nPlease join me in actively supporting Kevin Kirk’s candidacy for Representative of the 93rd District. Kevin has demonstrated strong leadership skills in the past and is supported by strong family values. Why can’t our politicians understand the simple truth that all of these tax increases, license and fee increases and their never ending millage requests are making it close to impossible for nearly anyone to save up enough money to live the American Dream?
\nEvery single taxpayer that I have spoken with (regardless of their financial status or educational background) understands that during this tough economy we cannot possibly spend our way back to prosperity. As a matter of fact, the only people who refuse to accept this simple truth are our elected representatives currently in office.
\nIt is time “We The People” take back our right to decide how our money should be spent. No tax should ever be collected without each and every penny of it being absolutely necessary to fulfill a vital need for the productive citizens who are having their money confiscated from their paychecks.
\nOur Country, State and many of our small localities are buckling under the heavy taxation and freewheeling spending that has gone on for far too long. The days of the Nanny State must immediately come to an end. Now is the time for “We The People” to take back control of our government, our pocketbooks and our lives from elected leaders who believe that they no longer need to listen to us.
\nWe all need to keep in mind one basic truth: We The People are not here to serve politicians, our elected representatives are here to serve us!
\nMichael Trebesh, CPA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Leadership through experience and election people who listen<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[7],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-28869","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-letters"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/28869","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=28869"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/28869\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=28869"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=28869"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=28869"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
