Thelen, Dorothy H. Flak<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Kenneth A. Thelen<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/thelen_kenneth2.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Kenneth A. Thelen, died May 14, 2012 at the age of 82. He was born on April 16, 1930 in Bengal Twp., the son of Julius and Rosa (Spitzley) Thelen. He married Jan Bower on April 30, 1955 in Pewamo, and she survives him. Ken served as a Fowler Public School Board Member, was a Korean War Veteran and was a lifelong Dairy Farmer and member of the Michigan Milk Producer\u2019s Association. Ken enjoyed sports and spending time with his family and grandchildren.<br \/>\nAlso surviving are their children, Roger (Cheryl) Thelen of Stanton, Terry (Peggy) Thelen of Alma, Jeff (Patti) Thelen of Fowler, Kevin (Laura) Thelen of St. Johns, Peggy (Mark) Mathis of Newaygo, and Rex (Gwendolyn) Thelen of Grand Haven, fourteen grandchildren, two sisters, Thelma (Hilary) Simon, Gladys (Jim) Armbrustmacher, one brother, Richard (Rosemary) Thelen, sisters-in-law, Anne Thelen, Rita Thelen and Therese Thelen and many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Donald, Stanley and Elmer Thelen and granddaughter Jenna Thelen.<br \/>\nFuneral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2012, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding, with concelebrant, Fr. Donald Wieber. Burial will follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, 11112 W. Ionia St., in Fowler, 2-4 and 7-9 on Thursday with a Rosary prayed at 3 and a Vigil Service at 8. Military Services will be provided by VFW Post #3733.<br \/>\nMemorials may be made in Kenneth\u2019s name to Most Holy Trinity Educational Trust Fund, Hospice House of Mid-Michigan or the American Cancer Society. The family was served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Dorothy H. Flak<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/flak_dorothy.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Dorothy H. Flak died Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the age of 89. She was born June 1922 in Carson City, Michigan the daughter of Fred and Esther (Kerkes) Edlin and was a graduate of Carson City High School.  For over 50 years, Dorothy was an active member of St. John\u2019s Lutheran Church, where she served in the Ladies Guild and was a Stephen Minister volunteer.<br \/>\nShe also volunteered for many years at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor as treasurer, doing quilting and serving patients. Dorothy was one of the first volunteers for Hospice for Clinton County. She also enjoyed baking, cooking and fishing. Dorothy had several jobs over the years working for Hammond Oil, the Wheel Inn Restaurant and for 20 years as a secretary for Clinton County Farm Bureau. On June 1, 1943 she married John Flak Jr. and he preceded her in death in 1985. She was also predeceased by two sisters and four brothers.<br \/>\nSurviving is one son, Larry (Jeanie) of Lansing; three daughters, Judie (Glenn) Kloha of Chicago, Linda (Gary) Brzak of Dimondale and Sandy (Michael) Dennis of Laingsburg; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 17, 2012 at St. John\u2019s Lutheran Church 511 E. Sturgis, St. Johns with Rev. Dr. Bryan Salminen and Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Kloha officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keck-colemanfuneralhome.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a>, St. Johns.
