Prowant, Corrie M. Rhynard, Mark Alan Smith, Linda Sue Holmes, Paul Frechen, Walter Huffman<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Jon E. Prowant<\/strong><br \/>\nJon E. Prowant died May 18, 2012, at the age of 56. He was born October 20, 1955 in St. Johns, the son of Edgar and Marie (Georgia) Prowant and his father Edgar prededed him in death. Jon had a true love of the outdoors including, gardening, camping and planting trees. Jon retired from Dana Corporation in 2006 after 23 years .<br \/>\nJon is survived by his mother, Marie Smith, niece, Jordan (Casey) Messer, brother, Mick Ludwick, stepmother, Beverly Prowant, step sisters , Janie(Brad) Quinn, MaryJo (Werner) Bartels, stepbrother, Gary Hinton and special friends, Doug and Pam Dewey. In addition to his father, Jon was also preceded in death by brothers, Ron and Sam Prowant.<br \/>\nAs per Jon\u2019s wishes he was cremated and the family will have a graveside service, 1:00 pm, Friday, June 1, 2012 at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Pastor David Hudgens officiating. The family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Corrie M. Rhynard<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/rhynard_corrie.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Corrie M. Rhynard died Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the age of 56. He was born July 24, 1955 in St. Johns, MI the son of Mervin and Carrie (Winslow) Rhynard. Corrie was a 1973 graduate of St. Johns High School was retired from General Motors and was a member of Secord Lake Eagles. He also enjoyed deer hunting, watching drag racing, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Tyson. On September 9, 1989 he married Kathy Derby and she survives him.<br \/>\nAlso surviving are his children Brad (Nichole) Rhynard and Chad (Jennifer) Rhynard both of Fowler, Tasha (Mark) Sullivan of Fenton, Kris (Kathy) Zerba of New Bern, NC, Kim DeAngelios of Alma, Karla (Kevin) Everingham of Sheridan; grandchildren, Caleb and Camden Rhynard, Kanen and Korey Zerba, Justin and Terry Eveland, Keric, Kaden and Kesen Everingham, Madison and Mateo DeAngelios; mother, Carrie Rhynard and sister, Crystal Ley; nieces, Jackie (Jon) Thomas and Nikki Ley and great nieces and nephews, Brenden, Sydney, Zachary and Stella Thomas all of St. Johns and mother-in-law, Jean Derby of Alma. He was preceded in death by his father and brother-in-law Dennis Ley.<br \/>\nA memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, May 25, 2012 at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a>, St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Dwight Ezop officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 AM until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or National Multiple Sclerosis Society.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Mark Alan Smith<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/smith_mark.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Mark Alan Smith \u201cSmitty\u201d went to that spirit in the sky on May 11th, 2012 at the age of 61. A proud Vietnam Veteran, Mark loved family, friends and motorcycles. He lived life on his own terms and had a great sense of humor. Raised in St. Johns, Mark spent his adult life in California.<br \/>\nSurviving are his wife, Michelle; daughter, Tisha; son, Wayne; granddaughter, Kassandra and soon to be 1st great-granddaughter, Lilanna; sisters, Linda (Larry) Stiffler, Nancy Payne, Marjorie (Larry) Niceswander, Mary (Chet) Anderson, Eileen (Steve) Delaney and brother, Chuck (Debra) Wells. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Beatrice Smith; biological parents, Chuck McMann and Mary Ellen Meddaugh; sisters, Marjorie Simmon and Betty Lou Elliott and brothers, Michael McMann and Dan (Sam) Moelter.<br \/>\nThe family will welcome friends and relatives to celebrate Mark\u2019s life at a graveside service at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 9th, 2012 at South Bingham Cemetery in St. Johns Michigan. The family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Linda Sue Holmes<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/holmes_linda.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Linda Sue Holmes, age 61, of St. Johns, MI passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, MI on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Tom Wilson officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 2-4 P.M. and on Monday, May 21, 2012 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.<br \/>\nLinda was born in St. Johns, Michigan on October 12, 1950, the daughter of Manuel and Margaret (Lover) Rodriguez. She married Gary L. Holmes on March 10, 1973 and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2005.<br \/>\nShe is survived by daughter Kelly and Chuck Vince of St. Johns, MI, son Kerry and Andrea Holmes of Grayling, MI, grandchildren; Ben, Makynna, Wyatt and Olivia, her mother Margaret Rodriguez of Ovid, MI, 3 sisters; Lucy and Chuck Hazard of Ovid, MI, Gloria and Buddy Kostuk of Ashley, MI, and Rachel Harrelson of Cadillac, MI and several aunts, uncles, cousins and special nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her father and her husband.<br \/>\nLinda truly appreciated the special help that Dena, Sarah and Laurie provided her.<br \/>\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mint City Free Methodist Church where she was a member. The family is being served by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Smith Family Funeral Homes <\/a>St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, Michigan.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Paul Frechen<\/strong><br \/>\nPaul Frechen, died May 16, 2012, at the age of 59. He was born on September 29, 1952 in St. Johns, the son of Carl and Regina (Armbrustmacher) Frechen and they preceded him in death.<br \/>\nPaul is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Frechen; nephew, Landon Frechen and his family, niece, Regina Wilson and her family; special friend, John Johnson, friends Stephanie Johnson and Kevin Kramer and other extended family members. Along with his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Steve.<br \/>\nA memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday May 22, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy presiding. Paul will be buried at the Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Walter Huffman<\/strong><br \/>\nWalter Huffman, age 80, passed away on May 3, 2012 in Mesa, Arizona. Walter was born December 6, 1931 in Monroe, Michigan, the son of Pinkny Huffman and Margaret (Little) Huffman. Walter was a baccalaureate alumnus of Michigan State University, and worked for Michigan Milk Producers Association. He retired as the Ovid Plant Manager after 36 years of service. Additionally, he served as Mayor of Ovid from 1980-1986, as well as on the Ovid Ambulance Service for more than twenty years.<br \/>\nHe is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Joan (Johnson) Huffman , his children Lisa (Huffman) Ondrus and Steve Huffman; step-sons Rick, Scott and Wade Johnson; nine grandchildren; sister Ingrid (Huffman) O\u2019Brian; brother Howard Huffman along with many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Walter was preceded in death by Betty (Kuhns) Huffman, his wife of twenty-five years; his sisters Vera Huffman and Helen (Huffman) Clark, as well as his brother Ingrim Huffman.<br \/>\nA visitation will be held on June 6, 2012 at 4:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 5:30 p.m. at the United Church of Ovid with Pastor Greg Buchner officiating. This will be followed by a funeral dinner at the church.<br \/>\nSympathy may be expressed in the form of contributions to the National Kidney Foundation at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kidney.org\/support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.kidney.org\/support\/<\/a>.
