Schrauben, Arza S. Cole, Alfred F. Bertram, Lillian C. Searles, Velmer F. Oakley, Ross E. Cornell Jr<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Stephen J. Schrauben<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/schrauben_stephen.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Stephen J. Schrauben, age 16, passed away on July 4, 2012 in Houghton Lake, Michigan. Stephen was born on December 27, 1995, the son of Gary and Margaret (Bozung) Schrauben. Stephen loved his family and helping people. He loved football, basketball, track, hunting and fishing. He tried never to hurt anyone, but always to help them heal.<br \/>\nAlong with his parents, Stephen is survived by his sisters, Emily and Ann and his brother, John and his nephew, Noah and grandfather, William Schrauben. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvin and Beatrice Bozung and Jeanne Schrauben.<br \/>\nMass will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding. His family will receive friends 3-5 and 7 \u2013 9 P.M. on Friday at the Goerge Chapel of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>. Rosary will be prayed at 8 P.M. on Friday. Memorial contributions will be made to a charity of his family\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Arza S. Cole<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/cole_arza.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Arza S. Cole, age 93, of St. Johns, MI died Monday, July 2, 2012 at Sparrow Clinton Hospital, St. Johns, MI.<br \/>\nA Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, MI, on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service from 10-11 A.M. Memorials may be made to the charity of the family&#8217;s choice.<br \/>\nArza was born in Fremont Township (Isabella County), Michigan on October 20, 1918, the son of Arley L. and Edna (Sandbrook) Cole. He married Eilene Marie (Goodwin) Plowman on April 28, 2006 in St. Johns, MI. Arza served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class during WWII and was a member of the VFW. He worked as a Jr. Engineer with Milan Army Ammunition in Milan, TN.<br \/>\nArza is survived by his wife Eilene Cole, 4 children; Leon W. Cole and Ruth Ann Austin, Carolyn S. and Robert E. Ingersoll, Richard S. and Linda Cole and Christine J. and James Wineland, stepdaughter Trina Brizzee, sister-in-law Joanne Cole and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Arza was preceded in death by daughter Alta J. Fisher, brother Virgil Cole and sister Doris Lott.<br \/>\nThe family is being served by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Smith Family Funeral Homes<\/a> St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, Michigan<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Alfred F. Bertram<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/bertram_alfred.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Alfred F. Bertram passed away, Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the age of 99. Born April 3, 1913 in Fowler, Michigan. He was the son of Arnold and Theresa (Fink) Bertram. He was a farmer until retirement at the age of 80. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid golfer. Alfred married Mary Werner on August 12, 1936 and she preceded him in death in November of 1937. Alfred married Mary Burns on August 24, 1939 and she preceded him in death on April 27, 1996.<br \/>\nHe is survived by six sons, Dennis (Shirley) Bertram of Defiance, OH, William Bertram of Lansing, Charles (Diane) Bertram of Westphalia, Jerry (Barb) Bertram of Fowler, Mike (Dorothy) Bertram of Fowler, Ken (Sue) Bertram of St. Johns, four daughters, Maureen (Al) Arens of Westphalia, Betty (Gary) Brown of St. Johns, Ginny (Mike) Nobach of St. Johns, Alicia Sirrianni of Indian Wells, CA, 28 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Mary (Werner) Bertram, second wife, Mary (Burns) Bertram, great granddaughter, Melissa Pasterz, two sisters, Mabel Spitzley, and Rita Bertram, as well as one grandson, Bradley Bertram.<br \/>\nA Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns, with Fr. Michael Williams presiding. Burial will follow at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Friday with the Rosary being prayed at 4 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 8 p.m. at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns. Searles<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/searles_lilian.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Lillian C. Searles went to be with the Lord, July 2, 2012 at the age of 86. Born December 12, 1925 in Duplain Township the daughter of Vere and Maybelle (Risley) Brown. Lillian married Willard Searles on May 15, 1943 and he preceded her in death on February 25, 1978. Lillian and Willard co-owned Searles Sales &#038; Service where they sold Kaiser &#038; Frazer cars. They also co-owned Searles Produce, Searles Excavating, Searles Builders, Searles Construction and Searles Mobile Home Park. She worked continuously until she was 80 years old. Lillian was a member of Pilgrim United Methodist Church. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.<br \/>\nLillian is survived by four children, Sharon (Gary) Conklin of St. Johns, Leon (Ann) Searles of St. Johns, Joyce Weinley of Bellevue, Cindy (Joe) Geller of St. Johns, daughter-in-law, Vicki Searles, 32 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren, three sisters, Dorothy Gates, Isabelle Cleland, Donna (Ed) Preston, as well as three special friends, Gladys Taylor, Hazel Worrall, Lois Fonger and her beloved four legged friend, Jenny. In addition to her husband, Willard, Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Harry Beery, two sons, William and Randy Searles, two daughters, Barbara Searles and Sandra Washburn, two sons-in-law, Kenneth Smith and Gary Weinley, two grandsons, Billy and Eric Huff, one brother, Russell Brown and one sister, Lucille Davis.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday July 6, 2012 at Pilgrim United Methodist Church of St. Johns, burial following at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Pastor Ken Bremer officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Osgood Funeral Home. The family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Velmer F. Oakley<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/oakley_velmer.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Velmer F. Oakley died Tuesday, July 2, 2012 at the age of 82. Born on August 14, 1929, in East Lansing, MI. He was the son of Ferris and Viola (Knapp) Oakley. He was retired from the MSU Housing and Food Service after 36 years of service. Velmer was a member of Eureka Christian Church and active at the Clinton County Senior Center as well as a member of the MSU Retirees Association.<br \/>\nVelmer is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lillian (Maidens) Oakley, whom he married September 11, 1949. Velmer is also survived by his son, Dennis (Barbara) Oakley of Lansing, daughters, Sylvia (George) Fuller of Owosso, Ruth (Rudy) Feliu of St. Johns, 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, brothers, Robert (Doris) Oakley, Freddie Oakley, Richard (Rossy) Oakley, and sisters, Janice (George) Anton, Rose (Gary) Hayes, Marie (Larry) Messer. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Cecelia Oakley; brothers, Albert, Clifford, and baby Ferris; as well as two sisters, Zelpha Osborn and Ruth Oakley.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday July 6, 2012 with Pastor Keith Whipple officiating at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Cornell Jr<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/cornell_ross.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Ross E. Cornell Jr, 88 of Roscommon MI, formerly of St. Johns, died on Friday, June 29, 2012 in Roscommon.  Ross was born on December 14, 1923 in St. Johns, the son of Ross E. and Anna (Voorhies) Cornell, Sr..  He served in the U. S. Army Air Corp during WWII.  On Sept. 9, 1946 he married Muriel E. Koyl in Angola, IN.  She preceded him in death on May 7, 2010.  Ross enjoyed traveling and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.  He had worked at Motor Wheel Corp., retiring in 1982 and then worked at South Branch Twp. Refuse Center in Roscommon for another 30 years.<br \/>\nHe is survived by son Michael (Lenore) Cornell of Coldwater and Michelle Cornell of New Mexico.  5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 2 sisters, Betty Woodhams of Middleton and Mary Lou (Frank) Bernath of Elsie. Ross was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Jack, Leonard, Arthur, Gerald, William and Lawton and 2 sisters, Alberta Blessenger and Ethel Bates.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a> at 2:30 P.M. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 with Chris Cornell officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Monday, July 2, 2012, 5-8 P.M. Becker<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/becker_gavin.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Gavin W. Becker, age 24, passed away on June 25, 2012 in Lansing, Michigan. Gavin was born on January 25, 1988, the son of Robert and Sally (Sillman) Becker. Gavin suffered a devastating brain injury on June 22nd. Gavin had a love of music, animals and art. He had a great smile and an open heart. He accepted his friends without judgment. Gavin was drawn to the broken, the misunderstood and the lost. He identified with those who struggled. He assisted at the Recovery House in Lansing, Michigan. Gavin became a Hero on June 25th by donating his organs to the Gift of Life. His gift created a miracle and answered many prayers.<br \/>\nAlong with his parents, Gavin is survived by his sister, Kayla Becker; brothers, Lee (Andrea) Becker and Glenn Becker; his grandmothers, Joan Becker and Kay Sillman and nephew, Griffin Becker. He is also survived by loving aunts, uncle and dear friends. Gavin was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Luke Becker and Barry Sillman and cousins, Brooke Becker and Nash Sillman.<br \/>\nMass will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, June 29, 2012 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding.
