\nNow, as a participant in the 2012 event, she’s eagerly awaiting the chance to provide a similar learning experience for flower-lovers attending this year’s tour on Sunday, July 15.
\n“I really enjoyed seeing all the wonderful gardens and different flowering plants, and thought to myself then that I’d like to be part of Andy T’s Garden Tour the next time,” says the St. Johns resident who has a definite ‘green thumb’ as evidenced by the 45 different varieties of cone flowers – her specialty – and hundreds of other plantings that fill every nook and cranny of her garden. “Taking care of a space like this is time consuming – and a lot of work – but it’s really relaxing for me. I love gardening.”
\nThat kind of passion for plants is what prompted Sunday and Andy Todosciuk to launch the tour last year.
\n“We had talked about doing a tour for quite awhile and decided to give it a try last year,” Sunday says about the tour that involves long-time Andy T’s customers who are willing to open up their gardens to guests. “The response was so positive that we’re making it part of our annual event schedule.”
\nThere is no cost for the tour that includes 10 stops along with the landscape and garden displays at Andy T’s Farm Market. The tour runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests can visit as many stops as they choose and devise their own route.
\nThis year’s tour features a wide range of landscape and gardening techniques like Debbie Foote’s more than 8,000 square-feet of flowers nestled amidst groves of mature Blue Spruce and White Pine trees that’s a wildlife haven, to Sam and Joan Pardee’s assortment of garden spaces that include a terraced rock garden, pond area with unique perennials – and a fairy and gnome garden.
\nIn addition to Andy T’s Farm Market, tour stops include: Bart Post, 1303 S. Clinton Ave., St. Johns; Darlene Sheldon, 610 N. Lansing St., St. Johns; Kurt and Corey Gartside, 2719 Steel Road, St. Johns; Debbie Foote, 3858 W. French Road, St. Johns; Dan Matson, 202 Ewen, Maple Rapids; Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 545 N. Maple St., Fowler; Sarah Powers and family, 8550 S. Grove Road, DeWitt; Dale Daley, 2707 E. Howe Road, DeWitt; Sam and Joan Pardee, 2518 Gary Ave., Lansing.
\nSigns will be posted at each stop on the garden walk, and owners or other individuals will be available to answer questions and provide information about their specific garden.
