Henning<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/henning_paul.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Paul A. Henning,  83 of St. Johns died on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at Sparrow Hospital. Paul was born on July 12, 1929 in St. Johns, MI the son of Leo G. and Bertha H. (Anderson) Henning.  He graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in 1946 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  On August 18, 1951 he married Ruth M. Schafer in Westphalia, MI. Paul was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, American Legion, Knight of Columbus, 4th Degree and past Grand Knight, St. Vincent de Paul Society, was an avid reader, Detroit Tiger Fan, enjoyed golfing and farming, and especially spending time with his family. He was a farmer at heart and had worked for 25 years at Sealed Power Co. retiring in 1990.<br \/>\nHe is survived by his wife Ruth. Children, Alan (Lynn) Henning, Traverse City,  Paula Audas, Okemos; Joel (Catherine) Henning, Grand Ledge, and Jean Ruestman, St. Johns. 9 grandchildren, Emily, Allyson and Jason (Morgan); Paige Audas; Andrew Henning; Kelly (Corey) Reck and Megan, Alexa Ruestman and Luke Leslie; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Leone Powers, McBain, MI; Gertrude Beechnau, Grand Rapids, MI; his twin sister Pauline (Dick) Gion, Ormond Beach, FL; Mary Lou Henning, St. Johns; Rita (Rich) Nowland, Ann Arbor; Joyce (Tom) Wilson, Pinckney, MI; Janet (Gary) Light, Carmel, IN; and Betty (Loren) Hall, Eustess, TX; brothers, Dean (Evelyn), St. Johns and Leo (Barb) Henning Jr., DeWitt; brother-in-law, John (Wilma) Schafer and sisters-in-law, Donna (Jim) Heibeck and Joanne Schafer and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry Henning, sisters-in-law Virgene and Maida Henning, brothers-in-law Clarence Powers and Dr. Lou Beachnau.<br \/>\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Michael Williams and Msgr. Robert Lunsford. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. Vigil\/Rosary service at 8:00 P.M. Friday evening at the funeral home followed by Knights of Columbus Service. The family will receive friends and relatives at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a> on Friday, August 24, 2012 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph School or St. Vincent de Paul Society.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Kenneth M. Faught<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/faught_kenneth.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Kenneth M. Faught passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at the age of 89. Born May 28, 1923, in Perry, Michigan. He was the son of Zachariah and Maude (Alford) Faught. Kenneth married Joyce (Wright) Faught on July 28, 1947 in Laingsburg, MI and she preceded him in death on, July 13, 2007.<br \/>\nKenneth is survived by his children, Clarice (Lawrence) Faught Scott, Janet (Ken) Callahan, Gregory (Linda) Faught, Sherry (John) Linbaugh and Terry Faught. He\u2019s also survived by his grandchildren, Darren (Linda) Scott, Amanda (Merritt) Scharnweber, Emily (John) Botica, Joshua (Travis Walker) Wilson, Jessica (Richard II) Thelen, Brian (Cherise) Callahan, Michael (Tina) Callahan, nine great grandchildren and one sister, Clarise Hoyt. In addition to his wife, Joyce Faught, Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry Faught and Morris Faught.<br \/>\nA memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2012 at the Maple Rapids Area Community Center, 209 W. Union St., Maple Rapids, MI. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation will be made to a charity of his family\u2019s choice. The family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Rachel Schumaker<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/schumaker_rachel.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Rachel Schumaker died Sunday, August 19, 2012 at the age of 90. She was born March 25, 1922 in St. Johns, MI the daughter of Ray and Lottie (Hearn) Warner. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. On December 10, 1938 she married John W. Schumaker and he preceded her in death, June 26, 2010. She was also predeceased by several siblings and their spouses, Leslie Acton, Robert (Thelma) Acton, Viola (Gerald) Yarger, Thelma (Paul) Waldron, Laura (Lloyd) Bryant, twin brother, Ray (Iva Mae) Warner and brother in law, Herb Horton.<br \/>\nSurviving are two sons, John R. (Betty) and James (Kelly) all of St. Johns; six grandchildren, Jason (Angela) Schumaker, Jessica and Jenna Schumaker, Suzanne (Richard) Williams, Beth (Steve) Larson and John A. (Anita) Schumaker; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Louella Horton of Owosso and many nieces and nephews.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, August 24, 2012 at St. Peter Lutheran Church 8990 Church Rd. St. Johns with Rev. Dr. Bryan Salminen officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church or Hospice House of Mid-Michigan P.O. Box 30480 Lansing, MI 48909-9986. The family was assisted with these arrangements by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a>, St. Johns.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Judith Lenora Reese<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/reese_judith.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Judith Lenora Reese, 69, died Friday August 17, 2012.  She was born February 25, 1943 in Lansing, MI, the daughter of Elmer and Josephine (Cleveland) Reese and lived in Lansing until age 10 moving to St. Johns where she lived until moving back to Lansing in 2009. Judith was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples) in Lansing. Judith graduated from Lansing Business University and worked for 36 years as a secretary, retiring from the Family Independence Agency (FIA), Social Security Disability Agency as secretary to the Chief Medical Consultant, Eleanor A. Berden, M.D..<br \/>\nJudith is survived by her brother, Terry Reese, sister, Linda (Arthur) Howard, and several special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, as well as special friends.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Home<\/a>, 104 East Cass St, St. Johns with burial at Duplain Cemetery with Rev. Rick Boyd officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Ingham Medical Hospital-Lung Division or the University of Michigan-Cancer Division.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Ludmila \u201cMickey\u201d Besko<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/besko_ludmilla.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Our much-loved mother and grandmother, Ludmila \u201cMickey\u201d Besko, of Ovid, Michigan passed away at home on August 18, 2012, at the age of 87, after a brief illness in the care of her family and Memorial Hospice. Mickey was born September 13, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois, as the youngest child of Stephen and Anna (Skrha) Michalek.  She grew up on her parents\u2019 farm near St Johns, Michigan.  She married James Besko in Ovid, Michigan, on June 25, 1949, riding in a wheelbarrow from the United Church to their reception.<br \/>\nMickey was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and attended the United Church of Ovid.  She was an avid gardener, baker, and seamstress, had a special love for dachshunds, and enjoyed visiting with all of her extended family.  She loved anyone that wanted to learn how to make kolache or homemade sausage.  She was tickled to learn that her soon-to-be great-grandchild was eating Czech food already.<br \/>\nMickey is survived by her daughter Sue Ann (Gregory) Palen of Ovid; grandchildren Megan (Ryan) Schrauben of Dexter, Meredith (fianc\u00e9 Jeff Mills) Palen of Greenville SC, and Brock Palen of Ann Arbor; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Carol Watson and Calista Reed; and her dog Lucy and cat Mittens.  She was preceded in this journey by her parents, infant son Alden, husband Jim, brother Stephen (Eilene) Michalek, sisters Anna (Joseph) Motz and Bette (Elmer) Peace, and in-laws John (Elizabeth) Besko, AnnaMae (Ted) Thornton, Mike (Roseanna) Besko,  Henry (Donna) Besko, George (Adelia) Besko, Mary (John) Srnec.<br \/>\nServices will be held at the Houghton Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes on Tuesday, August 21 at 11:00 am with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid. Visitation will be Monday, August 20, 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Houghton Chapel, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a> in Ovid.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the United Church of Ovid, the Ovid-Elsie Community Fund, or the Memorial Healthcare Hospice.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Ronald J. \u201cJack\u201d Halstead<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/halstead_ronald.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Ronald J. \u201cJack\u201d Halstead died Friday, August 17, 2012 at the age of 83. He was born August 29, 1928 in Bingham Township, Clinton County, Michigan the son of John and Evelyn (Diller) Halstead. Jack was a graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He attended the St. Johns Church of the Nazarene, was a retired GM employee and a farmer, tending the family farm that was homesteaded in 1854 by his grandfather. On December 31, 1950 he married Barbara Cone and she survives him.<br \/>\nAlso surviving are three daughters, Joyce Halstead of Apex, NC, Sherry (Michael) Montague of Raleigh, NC, Cindy Halstead of Lynchburg, VA; two sons, Ronald of St. Johns, John (Carolyn) of Lansing; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Paul (Ruth Ann) Halstead of St. Johns; two sisters, Ellen Huss of St. Johns and Lynda (Eugene) Simon of Houghton Lake Heights, MI. He was preceded in death by a daughter and son- in- law Robin and Harvey Chamberlain and two brothers, Raymond and Roger Heinlen.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 20, 2012 at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a>, St. Johns with Rev. Randall Rucker and Rev. Timothy Cockroft officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery with military honors provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard. The family will receive relatives and friends 3-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
