I’ve been made aware that some readers find my spelling, Oblama, disrespectful to the president. History tells us it happens a lot. Richard Nixon was called “Tricky Dick.” Bill Clinton was called “Slick Willie.” George W. Bush was called “Dubya,” meaning Dufus. Each of these nicknames suggested something about the man. My nickname for the president will remain in my writings. That’s because he’s earned it, he is O-blame-a. What hasn’t he blamed George W. Bush for, he blames the Tea Party, he blames the Republican Party, he blames the Europeans, oddly enough he’s blames the news media on occasion, he blames the weather, etc. He never blames the guy in the mirror.
The closest he’s come to blaming himself for something is to joke, “I guess those shovel ready jobs weren’t so shovel ready.” It did get some laughs. How many billions of dollars did it cost us for that joke?
Respect is not a gift, it has to be earned.

* * *

The first time I became aware of a presidential convention was in 1956. Eisenhower was running for a second term as president. The convention was held in August while we were on vacation at Crystal Lake. We had a black & white small screen tv and if it got more than two channels we were lucky. It may have been that we were watching the convention whether we wanted to or not.
I had already voted at elementary school in Lansing for Eisenhower in 1952 and if I could have voted in 1956 I’d vote for “Ike” again. Ike was the last bald-headed guy to get elected as president. He ran against Adlai Stevenson II (also bald-headed) again and beat him. No contest. Stevenson went on to become U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations under Kennedy and made that famous statement to the Soviets during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He asked them whether or not they’ve placed intermediate-range missiles in Cuba. He said to them, “I am prepared to wait for my answer until hell freezes over.”
If Stevenson had hair he might have won! He probably cursed his genes for losing. He may or may not have made a good president but he sure as hell made a good straight-talking Ambassador.

* * *

We’ve got a little over two months to get through the conventions, all the lies and BS on TV and radio daily, and finally the election. People in this country have already tired of all this stuff which explains why some of them probably won’t be voting. I still find Presidential elections both interesting and aggravating. Oblama hasn’t told us the truth yet and I expect him to keep on telling lies and using dirty Chicago political tricks, or whatever he needs to do to win this election.
It’s time for Oblama to go back to Chicago where his kind of politics is revered.

* * *

And Furthermore:
If Israel attacks Iran before our presidential election then I’ll cease to support them. That’s all we need in this country, one more war in the Middle East.
I’ve been dealing with something in my head as to why successful movie stars, tv stars, and major news broadcasters, who got where they are by having a dream, working hard, sacrificing, and succeeding, tend to be liberals. And yet they don’t want us to dream, to work hard, to sacrifice, and to succeed as well. They want us to become government dependents. I just don’t get it.
The definition of socialism is: Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy. Sound familiar?
Bill Maher was on the Tonight Show last night. I still can’t stand the man.
What’s with all the weird campaign speeches Joe Biden’s been giving lately? I don’t know about him some days.
I don’t like what Oblama’s doing with the Defense budget. We aren’t living in that kind of world where we have the luxury of cutting back. I don’t care if we’re outspending the rest of the world combined.
Until the next time . . .

[9

post-30665","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
