The Mint Festival Steering Committee takes a couple months off, but then starts meeting after the first of the year planning that year’s festival. There are currently several openings for event chairs and co-chairs. It should be noted, this is not just a “planning” committee – the individuals that serve as chairs and co-chairs work throughout the festival weekend to ensure everything is completed properly.
\nThe positions that are open include:
\n1) Vendor Committee Chair and 2 Co-Chairs: this committee is in charge of the on-site registration, parking and monitoring of the arts and crafts, flea market, commercial and non-profit vendors. This committee typically recruits 10-20 volunteers that can help throughout the weekend for check-in, to help direct vendors to booths & parking, tear down, etc.
\n2) Entertainment Co-Chair: this committee makes recommendations on weekend performers and during the festival weekend gets entertainers from parking to their venue, makes introductions on stage to the crowds and is available to the performers before, during & after their performance. This committee recruits 5-6 individuals to help with golf cart shuttling people back to their cars after the Friday and Saturday evening concerts.
\n3) Mint Office\/Photo Contest Co-Chair: this committee sets up, monitors & tears down the Photo Contest and mans the Mint Office throughout the weekend – the Mint Office is where PA announcements are made and where many attendees go to ask general festival questions. This committee recruits 12-16 volunteers to man the Photo Contest throughout the weekend and 12-16 volunteers to be in the Mint Office to help with attendee questions, lost & found and PA announcements.
\n4) Ice Cream Co-Chairs: two individuals are needed to help get volunteers to scoop ice cream (approximately 50-60) and be available part of the Mint Festival weekend to oversee operations at the Mint Festival Ice Cream Booth (re-stock ice cream from freezer, make sure utensils are clean, monitor ice cream sales, etc.
\n5) Information Booth Chair: this committee is responsible for setting up a booth with general festival\/chamber information and for getting 14-16 volunteers to man the Information Booth at the south end of the park during the weekend.
\nIt should be noted that while each of these committees needs to recruit volunteers, it is not as daunting as it may seem – the festival maintains a list from the previous year of festival volunteers and many of them volunteer for the same event each year. Those volunteer lists are shared with committee members to assist them in getting volunteers for the current year.
\nIf you have an interest in learning more about any of the open positions, call Brenda Terpening, the Mint Festival General Chair, at the Chamber of Commerce office today at 989-224-7248.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Positions open<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[10],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-31008","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-mint"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/31008","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=31008"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/31008\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=31008"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=31008"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=31008"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
