Camera in hand, I met up with Meg Dedyne and Courtney Hardenburg who are on the Student Council. The Student Council is working hard on the upcoming Homecoming scheduled for October 19th and October 20th. The Student Council started meeting in August for this event and the Council has 30 members.
How do you select a “theme” I asked and was told that everyone on the Council submits an idea and then it is put on the computer and everyone votes for their favorite. This year the theme will be “Space Defying Gravity”. The group is divided into working groups and each group has a certain duty to take on, advertising, entrance, walls, etc.
The week of Homecoming will be a Spirit Day every day with a different theme each day. Pajama day, favorite team day and others. On Friday there will be a Pep Rally featuring the Dance Team, Cheerleaders, Science Olympia demonstration that includes doing games. The Drum Line will also be performing and this year the Dance Team is choreographing a dance that I understand will be for some of the teachers to perform. Now, this is really where my camera will be that day.

Underclassmen Representatives: Front Row: Freshman Jacob Eaton, Junior Anna Seman, Sohomore Ryan Carey; Second Row: Freshman Jennifer Eaton, Sophomore Alexandra Davis; Back Row: Lane McMillan
Mark your calendars for October 19 at 5pm for the annual Homecoming Parade also done by the Student Council. This is an exciting time for all students and especially for the seniors.
Also helping out is the Drama Club who will be selling Homecoming T-Shirts and Roses for students to purchase. The dance will be held on Saturday evening at the high school gym with Jumpstart DJ providing the music and will run from 8pm-11:30 pm. At 10pm, the Reps and their Dates will be announced at 10pm.

Jason Gnegy with Courtney Hardenburg and Meg Dedyne
My thanks to Meg and Courtney for meeting with me and to Jason Gnegy Homecoming Advisor for his time and all the hard work they are doing to make Homecoming the success it will be.
See ya at the Parade . . .

[9

post-31209","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
