Halsted, Burdella P. \u201cBurt\u201d Sexton, Debora K. Burl, Mary E. Stevens<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Virgil C. Halsted<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/halstead_virgil.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Virgil C. Halsted, age 91, died on October 29, 2012. Born on June 27, 1921 in Essex Township, Clinton County, Michigan, he was the son of Clifford and Iva (Wright) Halsted and lived in Clinton County all of his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Chuch of St. Johns and the Maple Valley Lions Club for 38 years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in North Africa and Italy and retired after 30 years from Federal Mogul as a skilled tradesman. Virgil married Vada C. Box on February 14, 1946 and she survives him.<br \/>\nAlso surviving are two sons, Eric(Naomi)Halsted of Georgia &#038; Dennis Halsted of St. Johns, three grandchildren, Adam(Gina)Halsted of Georgia, Joshua(Jamie)Halsted of Mattawan, MI &#038; Amy Jo Lee of West Virginia, and seven great grandchildren, Hailey, Mickey, Dallas, Alana and Addyson Halsted of Georgia and Alyssa and Sydney Halsted of Mattawan, MI, and Ashley Lee and Jaspen Sullivan of West Virginia. Virgil is survived by one brother, Frank Halsted of St. Johns, one sister, Alice Aldrich of St. Johns, one sister-in-law, Mildred Halsted of California and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter, Cathy McDiarmid, great grandsons, Benjamin and Daniel, three brothers, Carl, Vernon and Valgene Halsted, and three sisters, Coryll Henry, Oretha Bissell and Beth Dean.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday November 2, 2012 at Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns, burial at Sowle Cemetery with Pastor Tim Knaus officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Military Services provided by VFW Post #3733. Memorials may be made to the Laurels of Fulton or the Alzheimer\u2019s Assoc. The family was served by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Burdella P. \u201cBurt\u201d Sexton<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/sexton_burella.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Burdella P. \u201cBurt\u201d Sexton, age 82, passed away on October 27, 2012. She was born April 14, 1930 in West Branch, Michigan the daughter of Andrew and Rose (Turland) Page. She married Roy \u201cBill\u201d Sexton March 21, 1950 and after his death married Kenneth F. Sexton September 11, 1970 he also preceded her in death.<br \/>\nBurt is survived by her children, Barbara (Richard) DePeal, Bill Sexton, Bernie Sexton, Ben (Mary) Sexton, Roselyn (Ed ) Wigglesworth, Eric (Lisa) Sexton and Ken (Diane) Sexton, several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Luella Brinley, Bessie Loomis and Ethel (Roland) Finkule and brother, Owen (Kathy) Page. Along with her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Hamlin, Fran Walton and Edna Bartz and brothers, Don, Jessie and Ernie Page.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the Houghton Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes in Ovid with burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery with Pastor Ed Schweikert officiating. The family will receive friends 11- 1 P.M. prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to First Church of God in Owosso or to the Capital Area Humane Society. Burl<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/burl_deborah.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Debora K. Burl, age 58, passed away suddenly, October 27, 2012 in St. Johns, Michigan. She was born on June 25, 1954 in St. Johns. She was the daughter of Walter, Sr. and Irene (Bandt) Suchek. Debora married Douglas Burl on October 30, 1978 in St. Johns. She was a supporter and volunteer of Special Olympics and a member of the Clinton County T.O.P.S.<br \/>\nAlong with her husband, Debora is survived by her daughters, Denise Fleming, Amanda (Keith) Heidenga and April Burl; son, Douglas Burl, II; grandchildren, Gary III, Spencer and Tyler Fleming, Dylan Henson, Kaitlin and Griffin Heidenga. She is also survived by her sisters, Roberta Mageli and Sue Ann (Dan) Olson; brother, Walter Suchek, Jr.; mother-in-law, Frances E. Burl; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Debora was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Maurice Burl; sister-in-law, Margaret Suchek and brother-in-law, Sidney Mageli.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns with Pastor Kenneth Bremer officiating, burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in St. Johns, 6 \u2013 8 P.M. on Monday evening and 11 \u2013 12 P.M. prior to Tuesday\u2019s service. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Doug Burl to help with expenses. Her family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Mary E. Stevens<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/stevens_mary.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Mary E. Stevens died Friday, October 26, 2012 at the age of 71. She was born November 20, 1940 in Angola, Indiana, the daughter of Russell and Marie (Short) Wheaton. Mary attended Pilgrim United Methodist Church and sewing, painting, cooking, baking and flower gardening are just a few of the many interests she enjoyed.<br \/>\nSurviving is her husband, Pete; one daughter, Donna (Tom) Jameson of DeWitt; two granddaughters, Nicole and Kelly Jameson; one sister, Phyllis Miller of Indiana and one brother, Roger Wheaton of Louisiana. She was preceded in death by two sons, Mike in 1975 and Kelly in 1989.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2012 at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a>, St. Johns with Pastor Brian Sheen officiating. Interment will follow at Eureka Cemetery.
