She is about eight years old and is a Real Doll! Gretta had a rough start when she first came in to rescue. She was pregnant and heartworm positive. Gretta lost her puppies due to a uterine hernia but made it through heartworm treatment just fine. The vet recommends that she be on monthly heartworm preventative year around.<br \/>\nGretta is an independent girl who gets along just fine with other dogs, cats and children. She loves attention and walks but doesn’t care much for being picked up and will yelp, possibly due to her all the surgeries and unpleasant vet procedures she has experienced.<br \/>\nGretta is crate trained and is working on house training, but will have an accident once in a while if you are not diligent about letting her out. However, she will keep her crate clean and can hold it for up to 6-8 hrs in her crate or through the night.<br \/>\nGretta very rarely barks so she would do just fine in an apartment type setting if she is crated for house training purposes. If she is in a home she will need a securely fenced yard to run around in.
