{"id":33937,"date":"2013-03-21T20:52:01","date_gmt":"2013-03-22T00:52:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/?p=33937"},"modified":"2013-03-21T20:52:01","modified_gmt":"2013-03-22T00:52:01","slug":"mmdhd-119","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/mmdhd-119\/","title":{"rendered":"County Health rankings announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Clinton County continues to have some of the healthiest residents in Michigan<!--more--> according to the annual County Health Rankings, released today by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.<br \/>\nAccording to this year&#8217;s Rankings, Clinton County ranks 3rd out of 82 Michigan counties in health outcomes and 4th out of 82 in health factors. The Rankings measure two types of health outcomes to represent how healthy each county is: how long people live (mortality), and how healthy people are (morbidity).<br \/>\nMany different critical health factors, which influence how long and how well people live, are measured, including:<br \/>\n-Adult smoking<br \/>\n-Education rates<br \/>\n-Adult obesity<br \/>\n-Air pollution levels<br \/>\n-Access to healthy foods<br \/>\n-Community safety<br \/>\n-Teenage births<br \/>\n-Children in poverty<br \/>\n-Number of uninsured adults<br \/>\n&#8211; Income levels<br \/>\n-Preventable hospital stays<br \/>\n-Access to medical care<br \/>\nClinton County was ranked 8th in the health factors category last year, and improved to 4th because of big improvements in the physical environment. Residents of Clinton County know the community has been working hard to increase green space, and this was picked up in the rankings, which noted that more people in the County have access to recreational facilities. In addition, the Rankings noted there is more access to healthy food in the County, including healthier fare in restaurants.
