The City of St. Johns Recreation Department is a co-sponsor of the event as are Citizens Committee for a Spray Park and the American Kitefliers Association (AKA). Clinton County Sheriff Department, Mounted Division, will provide safety officers. Free mint candies are graciously donated for the two mint candy drops by Hanover&#8217;s Michigan Mints and Stony Creek Essential Oils. St. Johns Lions Club will provide food and drink refreshments at event at regular cost for customers.<br \/>\n&#8220;We&#8217;re happy to host the 2nd Annual Kite Day on Sunday, May 5, Noon to 5 pm,&#8221; said Mike Beck, President and Co-owner of Uncle John&#8217;s Cider Mill. &#8220;Thor&#8217;s Hammer Kite and Blues Brothers will be back. New this year will be Fire and Ice from Chicago and Windjammers International Kite Team out of Detroit. These are all a great bunch of professional kitefliers who will entertain the crowds with choreographed music and teach kids how to fly a kite.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;Thor&#8217;s Hammer has a 15 foot wingspan that&#8217;s the largest two-line stunt kite commercially made. It will be flown by David Bush of Kalamazoo, MI.&#8221;<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/juQVzTqtQEM?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n&#8220;We&#8217;ll have a family field for personal kite-flying separate from the professional performance fields,&#8221; said Bill Schafer, City of St. Johns Recreation Director. &#8220;Again this year at 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm, St. Johns Mint Queen Alexa Ruestman and her Royal Court will preside over two mint candy drops from high-flying kites for kids to enjoy. They will also learn how to fly commercial kites.&#8221;<br \/>\nVisitors will be able to fly a kite (bring or make your own), use the jumping pillow, take a wagon ride, ride the pony hops, enjoy face painting, learn to fly a kite, and more! Visitors who pay $5 (adult free with a paid child) or $15 rate for whole immediate family will be able to fly a kite and enjoy the other included activities. All admissions will go to help finance the new community spray park at the St. Johns Main Park.<br \/>\n&#8220;It&#8217;s finally starting to feel like spring and this event is a chance for families to get outside, have fun, exercise and enjoy kiteflying,&#8221; said Suzie Fromson, Co-Chair of Citizens Committee for a Spray Park. &#8220;The venue of Uncle John&#8217;s Cider Mill couldn&#8217;t be better for this family friendly event.
