Tom Leonard<!--more--><br \/>\nState Rep. Tom Leonard recently introduced legislation that protects crime victims and their families by ensuring that criminals pay restitution, even after the victim&#8217;s death.<br \/>\nHouse Bill 4636 clarifies Michigan law to specify that court-ordered restitution continue to be paid to a victim\u2019s estate and heirs in the event of their death.<br \/>\n&#8220;Crimes against senior citizens and other vulnerable adults continue to be a growing problem,&#8221; said Leonard, R-DeWitt Township. &#8220;This legislation will clarify Michigan law to ensure that a victim and their family receive the justice they deserve.&#8221;<br \/>\nPrior to being a lawmaker, Leonard was a prosecutor and assistant attorney general. HB 4636 was referred to the House Committee on Judiciary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>State Rep.
