Lott \u2013 update, Harriet Rose Hier, Merrian \u201cJosephine\u201d (Cushman) Vail, Alvena M. Strgar<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Gary O. Lott<\/strong> &#8211; update<!--more--><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/lott_gary.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\" \/>Gary O. Lott passed away in the house of his birth, July 8, 2013 at the age of 80. Born February 7, 1933 in Middlebury Twp., Ovid, MI. He was the son of Arley and Mary (Englehart) Lott. Gary married Christine (Larisch) Lott on March 18, 1960, in Hanau, Germany and she survives him.<br \/>\nGary is also survived by his children, Gary Lee Lott, Conrad (Sharon) Lott, David Lott, Wayne Lott and Sherrie (Paul) Shaw. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister, Sarah Allen, many nieces and nephews and cousin, Bud Thomas and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gale Lott.<br \/>\nCremation has taken place and graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2013, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Owosso.<br \/>\nThe family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneralhomes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Harriet Rose Hier<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/hier_harriet.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\" \/>Harriet Rose Hier, age 74, of Ovid, Michigan died Saturday, July 20th, 2013 at Ashley Care Center, Ashley, MI.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be held at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Smith Family Funeral Homes<\/a>, Elsie Chapel Tuesday, July 23rd at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Bill Dye will officiate. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery Ovid, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.<br \/>\nHarriet was born in St. Johns, Michigan on October 5, 1938, the daughter of Oral and Irene Simpson. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns with the class of 1956. She resided most of her life in St. Johns and Ovid, Michigan. On May 4, 1957 she married Donald Hier in Ovid, Michigan. Harriet was an aid for RESA Schools in St. Johns for many years. She enjoyed the children that she took care of at school. She was an avid collector of M&#038;Ms memorabilia.<br \/>\nShe is survived by and her husband, Donald Hier of Ovid, MI; 3 sons, Dale and Judy Hier of Elsie, MI; Jeff Hier and Peggy Fast of Ovid, MI; Donald and Sheila Hier of Ashley, MI; 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Genevieve Marten of Fowler, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, 1 brother, Leroy, 2 sisters, Betty, Shirley and a special friend, Lindsey Harden.<br \/>\nMemorials may be made to RESA in Clinton County, MI.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Merrian &#8220;Josephine&#8221; (Cushman) Vail<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/vail_josephine.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\" \/>Merrian &#8220;Josephine&#8221; (Cushman) Vail, born June 1, 1913 in Bath, Michigan to Albert and Nellie May (Tyler) Cushman, passed away July 18, 2013 at age 100. Mrs. Vail was one of the last survivors of the Bath School Disaster.<br \/>\nShe loved her 7 children and their families, farming and painting. Her hobbies included painting, both china and oils.<br \/>\nSurviving to cherish her memory are her children, Joyce (Glenn) Svendsen, Nancy Miller, Martha (Dan) Sherman, Claude (Shirley) Vail and Hewitt (Barbara) Vail; many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Clare, in 2000; daughters, Betty Stull and Judy Blankenship; brother, Ralph Cushman; sister, Annabel Evert; and grandsons, Spencer Stull and Trevor Vail.<br \/>\nMrs. Vail&#8217;s funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greastlansing.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes<\/a>, 1730 East Grand River Avenue in East Lansing, with Rev. Brian West officiating. Family will receive friends on Sunday, July 21, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to Hospice Advantage, 801 S. Waverly, Suite 304, Lansing, MI 48917, in memory of Josephine Vail.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Alvena M. Strgar<\/strong><br \/>\nAlvena M. Strgar died Friday, July 19, 2013. She was born in 1932 in West Branch, Michigan the daughter of Eugene and Helen (Piar) Wright.  Alvena retired from Federal Mogul after many years of service as a final inspector and was an active member of St. John\u2019s Lutheran Church.<br \/>\nSurviving is her husband of over 60 years, Thomas; daughter, Anita (Russell) Hicks of DeWitt; brothers and sisters, Emerson (Frances) Wright of Holt, Mary (Jerry) Pavli of New York, NY, Shirley (Gordon) Schrader and Russell Wright all of St. Johns and Jerry Wright of Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Duane, Donald and Daniel Wright.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at St. John\u2019s Lutheran Church, 511 E. Sturgis with Rev. Dr. Bryan Salminen officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday, July 22 at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a>, St. Johns.
