\nDear Family and Friends,
\nI wanted to give you all an update on Frank. He has been sick, but is now doing a lot better. Some of you were inadvertently left out of the loop, so I will give a brief history.
\n\"\"Frank Jilka and Suzie at Jilkafest, 2013<\/em>
\nFirst of all, thank you for your cards, phone calls, prayers and well wishes for my Dad.
\nOn June 11, Dad was found about 3:00 pm by his caregiver in an extremely weak state. He was brought to the hospital and found to have a severe urinary tract infection. He spent a few days in the hospital, and was then transferred to a rehabilitation facility. When he got there, he was so weak he could barely stand. He had intensive physical and occupational therapy during the four weeks that he was at the rehab facility.
\nOn July 12 we moved Dad to a Board and Care facility. I found it by a stroke of good luck! It is a very nice family owned business, located very close to both me and Greg.
\nDad has his own room, which opens up onto a large deck, overlooking a beautiful back yard. The caregivers there are very kind and caring, and seem to have grown attached to him already. He doesn\u2019t seem to miss living alone in his condo, and never asks to go back home. We have been told that he needs 24 hour care, so the plan is to sell his condo and leave him at the Board and Care indefinitely.
\nDad is getting in-home Physical Therapy and is getting around pretty well now with a walker. He still needs someone standing by when he walks. He had been very confused during his illness, but almost all of his confusion has cleared up. His mind is fairly sharp now. One thing that I am thankful for is that he always recognized the family members and friends who visited him, even when he was very sick.
