Houser, Donald G. Higgins, Eythel Beth Spitler, Juanita M. Kadlek<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Andrew Alexander Spencer<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/spencer_andrew.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\" \/>Andrew (Andy) Alexander Spencer, age 51, went to be his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 after his long and courageous battle with Scleroderma, which he was diagnosed with in 1996. He is finally free of his pain and suffering.<br \/>\nHe was born on October 21, 1961 in St. Johns, MI the son of Robert and Shirley (Risser) Spencer. Andy was a graduate of St. Johns High School, class of 1980. He was a skilled archer and an avid hunter, gun and bow, and was also an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed making military dioramas, creating many, until he was no longer able to use his hands for that skill.<br \/>\nSurviving are his parents, Robert and Shirley; sister, Sherry (Dan) McKenzie of Lansing; two brothers, Jack Spencer of Lansing and Robert (Diane) Spencer Jr. of Albion; nieces and nephews, Tony, Sasha, Scott and Sarah and great nieces and nephew, Collette, Cicely and Finnegan.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.<br \/>\nThe family would like donations in Andy\u2019s name sent to World Mission <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldmission.cc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.worldmission.cc<\/a> at Life Bracelet Project, 2900 Wilson Ave., Suite 110, Grandville, MI 49418 or the charity of the donor\u2019s choice.<br \/>\nThe family was assisted with these arrangements by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a>, St. Johns, MI.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Allen J. Houser<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/houser_allen.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\" \/>Allen J. Houser passed away on August 12, 2013, at the age of 78. Born January 6, 1935, he was the son of Clyde and Marian (Beck) Houser. Allen started his auto body career at Bob\u2019s Auto Body in 1956 and later worked as an insurance adjuster with Michigan Mutual as well as a part time instructor at LCC in the Auto Body Program. He enjoyed building super modified race cars and, after retiring, spent much of his time tinkering in his shop.<br \/>\nAllen married Dolores Gensterblum on July 28, 1956 in Portland, MI and she survives him.<br \/>\nHe is also survived by his sons, Scott (Reva) Houser of St. Johns, John (Jennifer) Houser of Ft. Wayne, IN, six grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah), Michael, Spencer, Emily and Alex Houser and Danielle Falor, two sisters, Janet (Dan) Foland, Margaret (Jack) Hart, brothers-in-law, Marvin Lovegrove, Robert (Mary) Gensterblum, James (Louise) Gensterblum, as well as his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Huhn, Geraldine Hodge, Sister Bernita Marie Gensterblum, Mary Louise (William) Hanses, Eleanor (Forrest) Peake, Barbara (Leon) Densmore, Cecilia, Lois, Janet and Judy Gensterblum. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Susan Lovegrove.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns, with Fr. Michael Williams presiding. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul.<br \/>\nThe family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneralhomes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Donald G. Higgins<\/strong><br \/>\nDonald Gordon Higgins, 87, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013. Formerly of Saginaw, he died at his Petoskey home surrounded by family. He was born in Onaway, and in 1943 he married Roxy Mahoney, also of Onaway. She preceded him in death in 1996. In 1997 he married Phyllis Snody of Alpena. Don was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear, retiring after 25 years.<br \/>\nSurviving in addition to his wife, Phyllis, are two children, Ronald (Karen) of Burbank, CA and Susan (John) Paige of Lapeer; two grandchildren, two great-grandsons, two sisters and one brother.<br \/>\nFuneral service Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 11 AM at Grace Baptist Church, Saginaw. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Memorial tributes to Hospice of Little Traverse Bay, 416 Connable Ave., Petoskey, MI 49770.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Eythel Beth Spitler<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/spitler_eythel.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\" \/>Eythel Beth Spitler, age 88, of St. Johns, MI passed away on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Hospice House of Mid Michigan in Lansing, MI.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns, MI on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery St. Johns, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 2-4 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.<br \/>\nEythel was born in Sciota Township, Michigan on January 7, 1925, the daughter of Lewis Earl and Eva (Tubbs) Willett. She graduated from Laingsburg High School. She married LaRue Spitler on July 6, 1946 at the First United Methodist Church in Lansing, MI. Eythel worked as an office assistant for Greenstone Farm Credit, Clinton County News, and also worked at Reo Motors from 1947-1954. Eythel resided most of her life in St. Johns. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, crafting, and was involved in the exercise program at the Wellness Center. She liked to travel, including her trip to Australia in 1999. She has always been known as &#8220;Grandmas Taxi&#8221;, and has been involved in her grandchildren&#8217;s lives.<br \/>\nShe is survived by her husband LaRue Spitler, son Larry and Sandra Spitler of St. Johns, MI, daughter Cindy and Steve Higgins of St. Johns, MI, 4 grandsons; Greg Spitler of St. Johns, MI, Jeff Spitler of Ovid, MI, Marc Higgins of St. Johns, MI, Darrin Higgins of Chicago, IL, and sister Carol and David Pino of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters; Vesta Willett, and Ila Moore, and brother Carson Willlett.<br \/>\nMemorials may be made to Hospice House of Mid Michigan. The family is being served by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Smith Family Funeral Homes<\/a> St. Johns, Michigan.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Juanita M. Kadlek<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/kadlek_juanita.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\" \/>Juanita M. Kadlek died Friday, August 9, 2013 at the age of 88. She was born May 13, 1925 in Ovid, MI the daughter of Myron and Ethel (Stanhope) Shinabery.  She was a graduate of Ovid High School, Class of 1942 and Hurley Hospital School of Nursing. Juanita was a member of First Baptist Church of Ovid and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, traveling and doing cross word puzzles and was a volunteer at the Ovid Public Library. Juanita worked as a Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital in Owosso retiring in 1987 as a Charge Nurse with 38 years of service. While at Memorial she primarily worked in Labor and Delivery and attended over 8500 births while there.<br \/>\nShe married Frank Kadlek on December 22, 1952 and he preceded her in death in May of 1957. She was also predeceased by a brother, Robert Shinabery and a sister, Betty Aldrich.<br \/>\nSurviving are two sons, Michael of Owosso and Patrick of Ovid; granddaughter, Laura (Thomas) Clark of Ithaca; grandsons, Michael (Nicole) Kadlek of Battle Creek and Joseph Kadlek of Jackson; great granddaughters, Ashley and Taylor Clark and Allison and Anna Kadlek; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Verti Francis and Bev Clark.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 16, 2013 at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a>, St. Johns with Pastor Larry Smith and Pastor Tim Dickenson officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Owosso. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the funeral home.
