{"id":36878,"date":"2013-09-19T20:51:24","date_gmt":"2013-09-20T00:51:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/?p=36878"},"modified":"2013-09-19T20:51:24","modified_gmt":"2013-09-20T00:51:24","slug":"arts-73","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/arts-73\/","title":{"rendered":"Awards Night for Art Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>October 3 <!--more--><br \/>\nThroughout the summer, art students from Bath, DeWitt, Fowler and Ovid\/Elsie middle schools, displayed original banners depicting their \u201cSuperhero(s)\u201d at County festivals and special events. The participation was part of Clinton County Arts Council\u2019s Art Challenge and the efforts by students from those schools will be recognized at a special program Thursday October 3 at the Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) offices located at Southpoint Mall in St. Johns.<br \/>\nAt the various events where the original banners were displayed, the public was invited to vote for a favorite. Students from the school receiving the most votes will be presented the \u201cPeople\u2019s Choice Award\u201d during the October 3 event. That recognition and other awards for the banners\u2019 designs and materials total over $1,600.00 which will be given to the school\u2019s art programs during the 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. ceremony.<br \/>\nFunding for the Art Challenge is made possible from a grant through the Michigan Council for Art and Cultural Affairs, as well as support from local businesses, organizations and Arts Council members.<br \/>\nThe Clinton County Arts Council, based in St. Johns, has supported the arts in mid-Michigan since 1981.
