The wetland area was located west of Highway US-127 on Garfield road, just North of the M-57 interchange.<br \/>\nThe field trip was led by Mr. Michael Pennington Wetlands Mitigation Specialist with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. The 40+ acre wetlands was former farmland that was converted back to a wetland.<br \/>\nThis project is an example of the State Highway Department&#8217;s program to replace wetlands that have been destroyed by a highway project.
