She is also &#8220;one-half&#8221; of Mirror Image, an acclaimed horn duo that includes Michelle Stebleton. They have performed extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/gallery\/13dec\/bontrager.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"image\" class=\"alignright size-full\" \/>Education in general &#8211; and St. Johns Public Schools in particular &#8211; are important to the musician. &#8220;My mother, Grace Ormston, taught for 33 years in the district and my father, R. Lee Ormston, served on the St. Johns School Board of Education. They poured themselves into the district and both my sister, Lori Ormston Roberts, and I are proud graduates,&#8221; she says.<br \/>\nCollege degrees: Bachelor of Music, University of Michigan, French horn performance; Master of Music, University of Michigan, French horn performance<br \/>\nProfession: Distinguished Professor of Music, French horn, Penn State School of Music<br \/>\nAchievements: 2008 Faculty Scholar Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts and Humanities, Penn State; Distinguished Professor in 2010; over 20 CD recordings.<br \/>\n<em>How did your education at SJPS influence your career choice and life direction?<\/em><br \/>\nI had very positive experiences with both academics and music at St. Johns. Bill Tennant made sure that I was exposed to many musical experiences and pushed me to challenge myself. He made sure I selected a great college and teacher for my field. I owe him a great deal!<br \/>\n<em>Who are several teachers or staff who had a positive impact on your life?<\/em><br \/>\nWilliam Tennant, Walter Cole, for their incredible encouragement; my mother, Grace Ormston, for her fabulous role modeling.<br \/>\n<em>What SJPS academic, athletics and activities helped to promote &#8220;excellence&#8221; in your career?<\/em><br \/>\nSt. Johns High School had a dedicated class period to both orchestra and band and that helped prepare me for the intense conservatory style education at the U-M School of Music.<br \/>\n<em>How did your education at SJPS shape you as a person; broaden your horizons; promote &#8220;excellence&#8221; in your daily life?<\/em><br \/>\nI loved high school at St. Johns. I loved my friends and my family and home.
