He had worked for the funeral home as a consultant.<br \/>\nThe funeral home owners alerted police when financial discrepancies surfaced last spring. They are assuring the public that they will cover the costs for anyone who had a prepaid funeral contract with the company.<br \/>\nIn April Hudgens was charged with the embezzlement which happened over the course of six years. He pleaded guilty in November, 2013.<br \/>\nHudgens had served on the St. Johns City Commission since 2012. He resigned after being charged with the embezzlement.
