Senior Center
\nWhen some people hear the name Clinton County Senior Center they may think of people in wheel chairs or those using walkers. While you may see one of those here or there, members will tell you \u2013 we are not old! Member Jan Workman recently commented that \u201cthey are doing activities down here that make you feel like a kid again. A couple of weeks ago they planned a carnival and doing the cake walk brought back a lot of memories from when I was young, and we got very competitive trying for that lucky chair. The meals at the center are very good and economical. I\u2019ve made many new friends here and hope to meet many more\u201d.
\nMember Sharon Rademacher said \u201cI started coming just for the Euchre Tournaments but now enjoy the lunches and many of the special activities they have scheduled. I\u2019m looking forward to the game day in April and the upcoming Lugnuts bus trip sounds like a lot of fun. I would encourage seniors of any age to come and join us \u2013 you will find its lots of fun\u201d.
\nThe Clinton County Senior Center is located at 201 E Walker Street in St. Johns. They are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday of each week between 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Anyone aged 55 and over is considered a Regular Member and anyone that is under the age of 55 is considered an Associate Member. The only difference is Regular Members get to vote at the center\u2019s annual meeting each October.
\nIn addition to the Euchre Tournaments, Bingo, meals and Trivia that happen each week they have many special activities that go on throughout each month. In April they have a Day Trip to the Casino in Mount Pleasant planned for April 10. The Senior Center will provide transportation and the cost to attend is only $5, but you must RSVP to the center (224-4257) by Monday, April 7. Also on April 23 there will be a \u201cTake a Chance Game Day\u201d that will include free lunch, prizes and lots of chances to try your luck at various board games, card games and other events. Again, an RSVP is needed by Monday, April 21.
\nAt their Euchre Tournaments in April they will be celebrating Caramel Popcorn Day (Apr 7), Pecan Day (Apr 14), Easter Eggs (Apr 21) and Pretzel Day (Apr 28). And a day trip that is sure to fill up fast in May is a Lugnuts Game on Wednesday, May 21.
