For Military Salutes At Lugnuts Games
\nLAFCU\u2019s Community Champions program has opened public nominations for veterans and current members of the military to be honored at Lansing Lugnuts games this summer.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s natural to feel patriotic when surrounded by icons of American culture \u2014 baseball, hot dogs and fireworks,\u201d said Kelli A. Ellsworth-Etchison, LAFCU\u2019s vice president of community and business development. \u201cCooley Law School Stadium is a great place to honor our American champions for their dedicated service to our country.\u201d
\nThe Lugnuts will host 18 LAFCU Fireworks Spectaculars during the 2014 season. One honoree will be recognized at each of these games beginning Friday, May 2.
\nEach honoree will receive four tickets to the game, the opportunity to throw a ceremonial first pitch and a video-board salute during the game.
\n\u201cThe Lugnuts are privileged to welcome and acknowledge the men and women who have selflessly served our great country,\u201d said Lugnuts General Manager Nick Grueser. \u201cWe are pleased to be able to partner with LAFCU to honor these true community champions.\u201d
\nEllsworth-Etchison said that the nominees\u2019 military and community service will be considered in the selection process.
\nHonoree selections will be made throughout the summer. Deadlines <\/strong>for the individual events begin Friday, April 25, for the LAFCU Fireworks Spectacular on Friday, May 2, and conclude Friday, Aug. 22, for the last event on Sunday, Aug. 31.
\nTo nominate a deserving community champion, write a paragraph about why the nominee should receive this recognition and identify the nominee\u2019s branch of service and current rank or rank at time of discharge. Also include any military awards or recognitions earned by the nominee.
