After a few years it became a clinic, then other things for a brief period. When the Doctors Hart came here from Eureka area, they opened the Hart Clinic in the building. It later became called the St Johns Hospital.
\nAn interesting fact about the building, the top floor, an attic, was converted into a surgery and patients were carried up and down the steep stairs strapped to a stretcher as there was no elevator.
\nIn 1927 when Clinton Memorial Hospital was opened, the Harts continued as a clinic with some other doctors. When they gave up the clinic, I believe Mr Steffins bought the building and converted it to apartments. Later on, Mark Barber bought the building and changed the facade of the top floor to the present look. It is now offices.
\nBarry adds: Today the building is owned by A & G Properties.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Where is this?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-40076","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-features"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/40076","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=40076"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/40076\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=40076"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=40076"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=40076"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
