Perry, Leona Belle Rumbaugh, Jane Marie Sloat, Ralph Eugene Green, Mary A. (Schafer) Kramer<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Verna J. Perry<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/perry_verna.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Verna J. (Schattler) Perry, 71 of St. Johns, MI died on June 3, 2014 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing after battling cancer.  She was born on October 13, 1942 in Port Huron, MI the daughter of Harvey and Faye (Kemp) Schattler.  Verna graduated from Port Huron High School in 1960. After graduation, she worked at the Women\u2019s Benefit Association in Port Huron.  She later worked for many years at the St. Johns Chiropractic Clinic in St. Johns for both Dr. Konopka and Dr. Massa, until her retirement.  Verna loved gardening and tending to the wide variety of plants and flowers in her yard. She enjoyed watching many sports, especially The Detroit Tigers and MSU women\u2019s basketball.  She loved being with her family and attending her grandchildren\u2019s soccer and baseball games.<br \/>\nVerna is survived by son Todd Perry and daughter Lynette Wood both of St. Johns, MI; grandsons, Trevor and Caleb Wood, who affectionately called her Granny. She was preceded in death by her brother, Norman Schattler and her parents.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a> on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Randall Rucker officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Friday, June 6, 2014, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.  and Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made the Humane Society or the charity of the donor\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Leona Belle Rumbaugh<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/rumbaugh_leona.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Leona Belle Rumbaugh, age 94, of A Ewing Estate, AFC, Dewitt formerly of St. Johns and Elsie, MI went home to be with the Lord, Monday, June 2, 2014 in DeWitt, Michigan.<br \/>\n Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns, MI on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11:00 A.M with Dr. Donald Ferris-McCann officiating. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.<br \/>\n Leona was born in St. Johns, Michigan on July 4, 1919, the daughter of Leonard and Bessie (Grubaugh) Stockwell. She attended Lamb Country School in St. Johns, Essex School, Central School and graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School, St. Johns, MI. Leona married Elwyn B. Rumbaugh on January 9, 1945 in St. Johns, MI. They lived on the Rumbaugh Centennial Farm in Bannister, MI for 34 years until Elwyn passed away in June of 1979. She then moved to Elsie, MI.<br \/>\n Leona worked at Fisher Body in Lansing during WWII. She worked at Redmonds in Owosso and Ithaca for 6 years and retired from ITT Hancock (Lears) after 15 years. Leona did volunteer work; delivering meals on wheels and handing out food to the needy. She was also a reader to the children in the Elsie grade school for several years and a 4-H leader for 6 years. She loved traveling, playing cards, visiting shut-ins, reading, roller skating, and water aerobics. She was a member of Elsie United Methodist Church, Elsie, MI, as well as the UMW, Esther Circle, Elsie Literary Club, Bunco Club, and the Kerr Holiday Travel Club. She was also Mission Chairman at the church she loved.<br \/>\n She is survived by her son Larry and Susan Rumbaugh of Nashua, NH, 2 granddaughters; Tricia of Hollis, NH, and Brenda of Nashua, NH, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, sister Ethel and Don Sutliff, 2 brothers; Oscar and Mae Stockwell of St. Johns, MI, and Emerson Kenneth Sr. and Betty Stockwell of St. Johns, MI.<br \/>\n Memorials may be made to the Elsie United Methodist Church, Elsie Michigan. The family is being served by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com \" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Smith Family Funeral Homes<\/a> St. Johns, Michigan.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Jane Marie Sloat<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/sloat_jane.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Jane Marie Sloat of Ovid, MI, died May 30, 2014 at the age of 86. She was born November 29, 1927 in Flint, MI to William and Florence (Freeman) Vanaerman. On October 28, 1944 Jane married Victor \u201cPete\u201d Sloat at the Central Methodist Church in Flint and he preceded her in death. She was a past Matron of Morningstar #279 of Ovid, and the Past President of the Clinton County Association of Order of the Eastern Star. Jane became a nurse in 1969 and worked at several hospitals and nursing homes during her career. She was also active in volunteer work and her church, Sonshine Community Church, where she was a long-standing member.<br \/>\nSurviving are her sons; William (Linda) Sloat of Johannesburg, MI, Rick (Betty) Sloat of Elsie, and Robert (Cindy) Sloat of Ovid; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. Jane was preceded in death by her son; Benny, husband; parents; one brother, William and one sister, Maxine.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Home, 232 E. Oak St., Ovid with Pastors Robert Prange and Scott Seelhoff officiating. Burial will follow at Middlebury Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday, June 2, 2014 at the funeral home.<br \/>\nIn lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Sonshine Community Church, 2615 N. Ovid Rd., Ovid, MI 48866.<br \/>\nThe family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneralhomes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Ralph Eugene Green<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/green_ralph.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Ralph Eugene Green, age 81, was called home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Ralph was born August 27, 1932 in St. Johns, Michigan to Lyle and Edith (Eastman) Green. A long standing member of First Baptist Church of St. Johns, Ralph received Christ as his Savior as a teenager and remained committed to the good news of the gospel his whole life. An avid sports enthusiast, Ralph was a member of the 1949 St. Johns High School Football Championship Team and inductee into the Michigan High School Football Hall of Fame. Also during high school, Ralph was one of the first Golden Gloves boxers in St. Johns. Following high school, Ralph enlisted in the Army and served as a Sergeant during the Korean War. After re-entering civilian life, Ralph met Mary Ann Mullen, and they were married November 12, 1955. Ralph retired after 37 years at Federal Mogul as a tool and die inspector. Ralph cherished his time with family and friends, traveling with Mary Ann, deer hunting, fishing and watching sports.<br \/>\nRalph was blessed with and survived by his devoted wife Mary Ann, their children, Mark (Mary), Julia, Martin (Ruth) and Michael (Rachel); 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Zilz; sisters, Louise (Alan) Law and Barbara (Walter) Viges as well as many nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Marion Green and Fred Green and a grandson Alexander Green.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at First Baptist Church of St. Johns with Pastor Tim Knaus officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery with military honors provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard. The family will receive relatives and friends 2 \u2013 4 and 6 \u2013 8p.m. Monday, June 2 at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a>, St. Johns. (Schafer) Kramer<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/kramer_mary.jpg\" HSPACE=\"8\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Mary A. (Schafer) Kramer, age 91, died May 29, 2014. She was born in Clinton County, March 8, 1923, the daughter of Henry and Veronica (Bierstetel) Schafer. Mary married Steve Kramer in Hubbardston, MI on August 30, 1944 and he preceded her in death in 2003. Mary was a member St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo and a devoted wife, a farmer and a homemaker, and loved John Deere tractors.<br \/>\nMary is survived by her sister Rita Gesselman of Carson City, MI and her brother Thomas C. (Helen) Schafer of St. Johns, MI and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Gerald, Bernard and Paul Schafer, and a sister, Agnes Bradbury.<br \/>\nMass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo, MI. with Fr. Charlon Mason presiding and burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. at the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, 11112 W. Ionia St., Fowler.
