In September, the library will be hosting local author Lori Nelson Spielman, as she discusses her novel, \u201cThe Life List.\u201d This charming book shares the story of one woman who sets out to complete her old list of childhood goals, and finds that her lifelong dreams lead her down a path she never expects. The library has multiple copies of the book on hand, and is inviting all interested patrons to read it this summer in advance of Ms. Spielman\u2019s visit. If you are interested in reading the book, stop by the library to borrow a copy. The Briggs Reads! program has been generously sponsored by the Briggs Library Friends Group.<br \/>\n<strong>New at the Library \u2013 \u201cTale to Tail\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\nWhat do you get when you bring a child and a dog and a book together? Children\u2019s confidence and reading skills grow in a relaxing environment. This \u201cTail Waggin\u2019 Tutor\u201d program with Arrow, a certified therapy dog, will be available for children ages 6 to 12. A child can read aloud for 15 minutes to Arrow in our quiet study room on Thursday evenings starting June 19th through August 28th (NO July 3rd session). Arrow will be at the library from 6:30-7:30 pm. Registration is required. Call or stop at the circulation desk for available dates and times.<br \/>\n<strong>Movies at Briggs Library<\/strong><br \/>\nEvery Friday from June 13 \u2013 August 22 the library will be presenting family movies. All movies will be rated G or PG and will start at 3 pm; all children must be accompanied by an adult. On June 20th, the movie will be <em>Meet the Robinsons<\/em> and on June 27th the selection is <em>The Iron Giant<\/em>. Tickets can be picked up in advance at the library and attendees can bring their own pillows or camp chairs if they wish.<br \/>\nRefreshments will be available to purchase for a small fee. Adult patrons will have the chance to chat with other film fans during our Adult Summer Movie Series. We will meet on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm for a film and a short discussion afterward. The film on June 26th will be Back To The Future. To obtain a list of titles playing in July and August for either program contact the library at 224-4702 or stop by the circulation desk.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nAdult Book Club<\/strong><br \/>\nThere is still time to read \u201cFlashforward,\u201d the June selection of the Bookaholics book clubs. In Robert J. Sawyer\u2019s science fiction novel, the entire population of Earth loses consciousness for two minutes. During that time, everyone experiences a glimpse of what his or her future holds \u2013 or doesn\u2019t hold \u2013 and these visions set people on journeys to usher in or avoid their fate. The clubs will meet Thursday, June 19 at 12:00pm at the library or at Bruno\u2019s Bar at 7:30pm.<br \/>\n<strong>Jr. Readers<\/strong><br \/>\nCelebrate summer reading with Junior Readers on Monday, June 23 from 7-8 p.m.\u00a0We will be discussing the book \u201cBenjamin Franklinstein Lives\u201d by Matthew McElligott and Larry Tuxbury.\u00a0The book club is for kids ages 7-9 and includes a game, science experiment and snack.\u00a0Registration is required and copies of the book will be available at the Circulation Desk when you register.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nLibrary Closure<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Library will be closed Friday July 4th and Saturday July 5th in observance of the Independence Day Holiday.
