Quentin Nuttmann was a true celebration of thanksgiving for members of St. Peter Lutheran Church-Riley as well as many friends and community members from around the mid-Michigan area. The Rev. Dr. Tony Sikora of Hope Lutheran Church in DeWitt officiated at the special service that included pastors from congregations in the St. John’s Circuit of the Michigan District, Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.<br \/>\n“St. Peter is excited to welcome Pastor Quentin Nuttmann and his family to our congregation,” says St. Peter Chairperson Rick Houghton. “He is an outgoing and energetic messenger of Christianity, and we look forward to his leadership in the church and community.”<br \/>\nPrior to accepting the call from St. Peter, Pastor Nuttmann had served as senior pastor for four parishes located in northeast Kansas in the towns of Sabetha, Hiawatha and Fairview. He entered the ministry in 2006 following completion of pastoral studies at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO.<br \/>\n“It’s by the grace of God that we came to St. Peter Lutheran Church and School,” Pastor Nuttmann says about his ministry and arrival in Michigan with his wife, Christina, and their children McKenna, 8, Nathan, 6, and Cora, 4. “Christ unites us into one body, instructing us to love one another and be one in faith. I am looking forward to working for God here.”<br \/>\nThe fact that St. Peter has been blessed with a Christian Day School since 1941 helped guide Pastor Nuttmann in accepting the congregation’s call. Originally from St. Louis, he graduated from Concordia University in Seward, Neb., and served for five years as a Lutheran teacher in Edwardsville, Ill., before entering the seminary to become a minister.<br \/>\n“The school drew us here,” he says, citing his years in the classroom where he held a K-12 art education endorsement and taught art, computers and psychology. “Christian education is essential for the world today. Providing excellence in education with a Christian foundation is vital for current and future generations.”<br \/>\nPastor Nuttmann enjoys working in various art mediums, including stained glass. An avid outdoorsman, he and his family are looking forward to camping and hiking in Michigan where he hopes to fish on its streams and lakes.<br \/>\n“Growing up, we spent nearly every summer weekend camping and fishing on trout streams in southern Missouri, and it will be wonderful to explore the wonders of God’s creation fishing and hiking here in Michigan,” he says.<br \/>\nSt. Peter Lutheran Church and School is located at 8990 Church Road, about 10 miles southwest of St. Johns; pre-school through fifth grade.
